Chuck posted an update on his lawsuit over his pretending to be a Professional Engineer:
Quickly skimmed through the briefs. Chuck's was just "waaaah the board is doing this cuz they don't like what I'm saying!!" and the board's response was "saying you're a professional engineer in the context of political advocacy does not change the fact it's a lie." I wonder why the board isn't so willing to be lenient on Chuck after he performed his usual shtick of shaming them for literally murdering children to death? Then again it's not like urbanists care what other people think.

Seriously though I don't understand why Chuck can't just take the L and stop calling himself an engineer. He admits himself he's basically stopped practicing engineering as is. It's not like that prevents him from pushing his retardation about "stroads" or whatever, that's exactly the sort of speech the First Amendment protects. NJB, Armchair Urbanist, basically every other urbanist doesn't call themselves an engineer and AFAIK are not engineers either (except CityNerd's bio says he is a "plangineer" whatever that means) and that hasn't stopped them from being political nutjobs.

He needs that "engineer" to make it sound like stroads and all the other bullshit is settled science.

It's dumb as fack and just goes to show the amount of autism we're dealing with here.

Also that's a fucking lot of 40k overlap my god

Late but I'd guess that instead of just size it'd be something along the lines of "High demand for housing", which in turn means landlords being able to get away with more shit, and uhhh, I would not expect these guys to have a favorable impression of their landlords...

There is a ton more—like how the state of Minnesota repeats endlessly that my license temporarily and inadvertently lapsing is actually me intentionally deceiving the public about my credentials. I did that, I guess, by not having the prescience to remove the letters “PE” after my name on the title slide of a PowerPoint (when I was unaware that my license had accidentally lapsed).

But he is being deceptive about being an engineer, because professional licenses don't give you credentials to throw around at normies. It's the same reason why you can't get a PHD in basket weaving or bullshit social science then go around giving medical advice because "I'm a 'Dr.', see?" and then get floored when the state licensing board gets pissed at you.

Of course, this guy's head is so far up his own ass that instead of some groveling apology and agreement he won't use that when promoting his urban bullshit, he went with the "WHY THE FUCK IS THE STATE IS MAD AT ME, I AM A REAL DOCTOR, IT'S NOT LIKE I PRACTICE MEDICINE" defense.

You know this also adds another mark on my list for these people. They Could advocate and show off the ability to turn those "useless lawns" into something that benefits everyone. They could turn the soil being used for grass into edible vegetables and fruits. There is NO cross between these people and any gardening type subs. I see mainly politics and economy subreddits. There is a few niche subs here and there, but nothing is related to being self sufficient.

These people are just so used to whining. They couldn't even comprehend how much effort it takes to do this.

What are the troons gonna do when they find out Chuck's lawyers (Mohrman, Kardaal & Erickson) are the worst people ever?
Chuck's always struck me as a bit conservative so I'm not too surprised by this. That said they'll probably do what they did to Null, gayops involving harassment of the law firm and their clients for having represented bigoted, evil people.

That won’t work on a law firm which proudly states that they worked on election integrity cases.

And unlike Null, these guys would have no issue suing for tortious interference.

Notice the "generalization" of a single study? hmm,

Even though the result may actually be CORRECT .... this is sloppy science.
They also don't seem to realize that the guy driving 60 in a 35 will continue to drive 60 mph no matter how much "traffic calming" and "road diets" they add to the road. He'll just enjoy pretending he's in Monaco, and everyone else who uses the road will be pissed off at how slow they have to drive.

The proper takeaway is to raise the speed limit of that road to 45 mph per the 85th percentile rule.

Also, this road runs through an industrial area:

Wonder how a "dieted" road and trucks would work out...

Lovely, the socially liberal, fiscally conservative worm is now invoking freedom of speech over something the state has every right to restrict. If you wanna tell someone to drink bleach to cure their cough that's your business but you don't get to call yourself a doctor when you do it. Of all the restrictions places upon speech(whether de-jure restrictions by the state or de-facto restrictions from special interest groups), this is far and away the most understandable.

Shit line this unironically shakes my faith in ideas like freedom of speech. It doesn't matter how many times I tell myself that protecting absolute freedom of speech is key to protecting freedom writ large, some asshole with an agenda and a messiah complex will come along and take advantage of my principles. And eventually they will almost always forget about free speech once it becomes a hindrance to removing people they don't like.

Gardening is a pleasant hobby, but I do agree it can be challenging. It's both not as complex as it looks and tricky to do, I grow mostly seasonings such as mint, sage, rosemary and peppers and just dealing with the annoyance that are bugs and fungi makes it a no go if you're not willing to put in some effort. While I do agree that lawns shouldn't be as dominant as they are, it's more because I find fields full of wildflowers and trees to be much more pleasant to the eye. I don't have an issue with grass, but these guys seem to look at fields of it and start bitching about how it should all be a colossal garden, nevermind the needs of the fucking owners that actually use the fucking lawns lol!

In fact, this is a big problem with guys like that. They are seemingly unable to have any nuance in their thinking, humanity won't be less dependent on automobiles anytime soon, what will happen is a shift towards more eco-friendly means of transportation, including a shift towards automobiles running on electricity and biofuels. I often opt for walking and public transport for running errands, but there are some situations where I can't help but drive, good fucking luck in bringing a whole load of shopping with you on the subway, only small purchases make it feasible, but these guys act like a guy choosing to go driving for grocery shopping or even more serious errands is some sort of asshole for making that choice!

Most speed traps are in small towns, and are actually set so that the speed is still low even on the outside where the main street ends and the highway begins. And because these are constantly monitored and there's pretty much nothing else going on, it not only works but it's the main source of revenue. It's possible to game the system by only slowing down where you know where the cops will be; however, it's not foolproof because state troopers are a wildcard and can be literally anywhere.

In large cities, the speed limit is what the rest of the traffic goes and the cops go even faster. There's no time for big city police to sit down drinking coffee with a radar gun.

Yep, but this will now enter the mythology of fuckcars and never be questioned again.

Which is hilarious because if they believe in "road diets" (they do) then the converse must be true; and roads have a "natural speed" and trying to get them to go faster or slower than that natural speed is ... unnatural.

And then, if that is true, from it follows that stroads are a natural thing that should be treasured and used.

I'd take cities with small roads in each "development" connected by stroads anyday if they also connected via walking/biking paths as shortcuts! This would be great because cars would go slow because almost all roads are local, fast cars would go fast on stroads and highways, and walkers/bikers could take shortcuts and feel superior!

But then you might have a pedestrian bridge and all would come crashing down.

I dont get the whole hate of underpasses thing though they are the final solution to the pedestrian question.

/r/fuckcars got really triggered over someone calling city-dwellers fat and disconnected from nature:

I can't think of any dense city in the US that has untouched land within the city. Phoenix and some of the Californian cities have a bunch of mountains that are undeveloped inside of them, but they're the very picture of suburban sprawl.

The greenbelt isn't in the city (and is one of the reasons why London is expensive):

Actual nature and farms are wastelands:

Bunch of people say that their local central park is totally the same as the wilderness:

A couple of posts ago I shared a 400 lb man who walked to the grocery store every day.

Bragging about a slightly lower obesity rate between rural areas and urban areas:

Oh wow, only 30.4% of urban residents are obese. Truly the picture of health. Not like those fat rural hicks with their obesity rate of 35.6%.

I'm surprised that the Engineer in charge at Strong Towns didn't pick up the flaws in that - oh, wait.

Pretty sure that's isolated to the US or North America.

It's definitely not the case in sub-saharan Africa (and probably elsewhere too, but I didn't check) where the opposite is the case.

Strong Towns and r/fuckcars are extremely US-centred - the rest of the world may as well not exist for them (except for Europe, which is their Promised Land - not that they'd want to live there, mind you!)

They believe they would be like their idol losing weight by just walking to the local salted meat and bread store.

They have no idea how calorie deficits work or care to follow them. They can't fathom using THEIR yards to create "untouched" forest appearance. They bitch about their neighbors "not using their lawns to exercise in public." Every single statement made using the term "car brain" that has been posted and I've seen is looking outward. None of these comments are self reflective.
