So do they just leave his corpse there? I don't get the difference between something like this and a life sentence.
It's certainly (well, most likely anyway) a bit of overkill in this case, but the reason judges give sentences like this is to make sure the asshole stays in prison even if some (or even most) of his individual convictions are overturned on appeal.

He was sentenced to life in prison without parole, once each for a total of six convictions. Even if somehow an appellate court overturns and throws out five of those convictions but leaves one standing, he stays in prison for life. If all of those convictions are overturned, he still has 700+ years of prison time to serve combined from sentencing for all the other convictions that didn't earn a life sentence.

For him to have any chance of ever seeing the outside of a prison again in his lifetime, so many of his convictions would have to be overturned that it would be a scandal big enough to see some pretty big shakeups in the state's judicial system over it.

If even just one conviction stands, he's still spending over a decade in prison no matter what. That's why this bloviating judge is finally doing her job after six hours and stacking these sentences high into the sky.
