US Five people killed and at least 18 injured in mass shooting at a gay nightclub in Colorado

Five people were killed Saturday night at a gay nightclub in Colorado Springs, Colorado, police announced. Another 18 people were injured in the mass shooting at Club Q.

“They did locate one individual who we believe to be the suspect inside,” said Colorado Springs Police Lt. Pamela Castro. “At this point in time, the suspect is being treated, but is in custody.

Castro did not clarify whether the suspect was included in the count of people who were injured in the shooting.

Police declined to speak about a possible motive. Colorado Springs Fire Capt. Mike Smaldino said 11 ambulances responded to the scene after multiple 911 calls were received.

“We will be here for many, many hours to come,” said Castro.

In a statement on social media, Club Q said it was “devastated by the senseless attack on our community” and offered condolences to victims and their families.

“We thank the quick reactions of heroic customers that subdued the gunman and ended this hate attack,” the statement said.

Fun fact: The Iranian used MP40 in the attack that some Norwegian SS soldier had stashed during the war. Norwegians went and imported an Iranian that lived in a medieval society, and uses a likewise historical weapon to kill European modernists. Somehow ironic. Talk about blast from the past.

I can’t speak to this particular drag bingo, but I had a family member invite me to a different drag queen bingo. Went not to play bingo but to spend time with that family member. It wasn’t held at a gay bar but a community center. Most of the players were older women and the numbers were called out by a drag queen. In between calling out the numbers, he would make sexual comments which made all the old ladies laugh. And yes, this was a super blue, super lefty area but I don’t know why people would pay to be sexually harassed for a couple of hours.

@Ikea Shelf That's literally the entire point of drag culture. It's just pervy dudes in drag fetishizing diva and whore culture or at least their idea of it.
