Unpopular views about music

Nightcore has introduced me to a large amount of music that I would never listen to if it had a music video as opposed to a picture of an anime girl

Gregg Rolie was the real talent in Journey.

Steve Perry definitely has an amazing voice, but Rolie's keyboards and supporting vocals were what truly elevated the band into a perfect contender for the American equivalent to Queen.

Once he left and Jonathan Cain replaced him, they became a by the numbers '80s pop band.

I liked Billy Corgan's solo album and wish he would do more solo stuff.
I mean the rest of the Smashing Pumpkins are gone anyway so why not

i cannot understand why anyone likes pantera. someone in another thread described it as the short bus full of redneck kids of metal, and it's true. they just have a bland sound, and they're practically lifeless compared to other bands. maybe their success lies in how there's a niche of easy access heavy metal that you can blast from your pickup without anyone complaining too hard about it.

general metal opinion: my interest in the genre tends to waver between being genuine and being ironic. it mostly lies in the vocals and lyrics. for example, acacia strain's "the impaler", featuring fantastic writing such as "we destroy the things that make the world go round/we are the reason there is blood on the ground".

I sometimes like Tom Hiddleston's covers of Hank Williams' songs better than actual Hank Williams

I actually rather like Taylor Swift. It's cool to hate on anything "popular" so I guess liking something that's trendy is an unpopular opinion nowadays. I like her music and she's got a refreshingly modest public image.

Also I think the Beatles are overrated.

Avenue Q is overrated.

And to all the Avenue Q spergs out there; can you sing something else besides Internet is For Porn or Everyone is Racist? Because I'm pretty sure they had more songs than that.

How about "You Can Be As Loud as the Hell You Want"?

Pink Floyd, in my opinion, isn't that good. At least towards their later albums, where it seemed less like music and more a really, really bad, over the top stage production. Not even funny, just a mix of anyways ABOUT MY DAD and other shit. Sounds like a livejournal post circa 2006. Also Roger Waters in general came off as a huge douche to me.

Richard Wright's solo albums are pretty good though.

I think The Wall is where it became obvious the end was nigh. There are good tracks on it, but all in all, it's a terrible album. It doesn't fit together well at all, rather like the flawed movie to which it was a soundtrack.

The Final Cut was more disciplined, but essentially a Roger Waters solo album with the other members coming in and laying down their tracks separately. The members of the band were barely even speaking to one another at that point.

Duran Duran have put out more good music AFTER the 80s than they did during the 80s, when they were mega-popular.
80s Duran Duran were pretty overrated, tbhfam.

Soundcloud and Bandcamp do not interest me in the slightest. Sure, there will be the occasional song from the former that I happen to be enjoyable, but those are just exceptions. I really don't care to acknowledge nerds and their "check out my vapormeme tracks" pleas.

I don't get the appeal of Adele. Then again, I can't stand any pop artist.
I used to hate Adele around the time of her first two albums, probably a result of over-exposure. My art teacher at one point of school played her first album in class all the fucking time, and next thing you know, her second album was pretty massive, so I was real damn sick of her by 2012.

These days I don't really care as much, and "Skyfall" was alright. Although her third album is utter trash, but like I said, I don't care anymore.

I get the appeal, although I don't get the whole "OMG SHE'S THE BEST SINGER EVAR, EVERY SONG SHE SINGS IS GOLD, SHE'S THREE BILLION TIMES BETTER THAN EVERY OTHER SINGER THESE DAYS LOLZ" thing that I get from a lot of people.
