The Greater Mystery:
Why are you sperging about Star Trek when you're supposed to be rushing out your fucking game?

Dang Dirty MEN!
"Industry leader" John Flynt does not know that Windows 10 is free, which was arguably one of the biggest pieces of tech news last year.

If this isn't bait then John is really the most idiotic piece of shit in the universe.

Revolutionary "woman" in tech, everybody!
Wait... "ISO". Wu fucking pirated this!
Be careful trying to fap with that mangled penis, John

"Horrific, sexist game"
Like this one?

Wu obviously won't make the video, he produced jackshit in 2 years. Nor does he have any expertise with this, considering he calls it "technology" instead of programming.

Sorry for being a bit late with the Rev 60 thing not running on her high-end MBP (just done backreading new posts). Anyway, this is Bioshock (spoiler because large image):

I can confirm that this runs well on a 2010 MacBook Air (emphasis intended). It certainly looks and plays better (FPS-wise) than this:

Wu must be doing a lot of things wrong dev-wise if Rev 60 can't run on her high-end MBP. Aside from the possibility raised earlier by other Kiwis about extremely high polygon counts (again, with proper optimization and techniques, you can still have fairly detailed models and animations with lower polygon counts - see Bioshock from 2007 above), Wu might also be using one texture for each of her models' pieces instead of UV mapping them properly to end up with less texture files and save memory usage. I'm guessing that in doing the port, she lazily upconverted all those iOS textures to 4K quality which, as expected, then put a strain on her MBP.

A leading figure in game development should know these things. Wu's just exposing herself more and more with each dev update she puts out regarding Rev 60.

Makes you wonder who did the 3D models, and why they didn't optimize them as part of their regular job anyways? Did they have Wu come storming in telling them not to? I'm not a 3D modellor but I know a little bit. Generally you reduce the unseen polys simply because to not do so is a simple waste of resources.

I just... don't get it. Didn't she hire in professionals?

Tell the tranny community not to say that term first.
Also, stop talking over tran's people, "Brianna" Wu, you TRUE and HONEST cis XX-chromosome born woman!

Ya know. If/when this behaviour becomes normalized I can see us changing this anyways because language evolves as is. Right up to the 1980s various Black pressure groups would officially use the term "Negro" in the USA and "Coloured" in the UK when referring to black people and it was considered the respectable word to use by both black and white folks due to the more negative connotations of other words. People born today wouldn't consider using those words but older folks still do every now and then.

You can piece together the narrative of R60's development from various interviews back before R60 was released. The base model on which all the characters were built was contracted out before Wu had even met Amanda. She had absolutely no clue how to actually specify what she wanted, so she got a ridiculously high polycount 3D art render grade model, which they had to laboriously trim down on their own later when they actually had an engine to put it in.

Apparently she must have paid the contractors who made the model some ridiculous sum for it too, because the reason R60 ended up with an all female cast is that they couldn't afford to have other models made.

Wu hired people who did know more than he did, then fired them all when they outlived their usefulness for the original iOS version. He can't hire them back, they all hate the air he breathes, and as @Jaimas confirms, his reputation is so bad no one wants to work for him, so he's forced to do all the work himself now, and he's totally clueless but pretends otherwise.

Wu is really reaching here. Its "People with autism" for the most accepted proper usage in a professional environment (a family member has been an ECSE teacher for over a decade now). When Wu says "Autistic people is too specific" this is how you know she's completely talking out her ass. "Autistic people" isn't used because it places the disability before the person. When dealing with children especially, it is important to communicate that they are people first, and that defines them more than the autism. The issue isn't the fucking specifics of it, good lord, acting like autism is a forbidden word is a horrible idea and an outdated one, at least in educating children.

I get the feeling she is just trying to appear hyper sensitive with "People on the spectrum", since that's entirely unnecessary if you know the person in question has autism. And if you DON'T know if they have autism or not, its incredibly rude to assume they're on the spectrum. Regardless, it has nothing to do with it being too specific, it has to do with you knowing what the fuck you're talking about and not patronizing or making the person you're talking to not feel like shit.

Most of her team she met on Craigslist like real professional game companies do. Thats her idea of networking, actually. All that talk of back channels and women in tech amounts to little more than begging for suckers on the local papers wanted ads.
