She was targeted for being anti-GG and pro social justice but what they probably got Nintendo to fire her based on is digging up some vague things from her past social media tweets and a research paper that could maybe be interpreted as sympathetic to pedophilia to some degree. Looking at the evidence I don't think it's particularly reasonable myself, but if Nintendo got enough complaints maybe they felt pressured to do something. But that's jumping to conclusions- I suppose we don't know the official reason as to why she was fired.

I am super pissed at Nintendo. Rapp will land on her feet and there is zero chance she won't find employment someplace, especially after this. But I wanted to believe Nintendo wouldn't' see the harassment as a problem and stand by their employee, but apparently not. I don't understand, did they think the PR hit would be minor? Like 5 outlets are going to cover this, minimum.

Well, that's how a rational (if utterly ignorant) mind would come to determine who to target in protest over localization issues. That said, the more likely reason she was targeted was because she's a woman who works for a company they don't like and they managed to dig up something that, if you completely lied about it, portrayed her in a bad light.
