There was an honest effort to oust the usual suspects in this state. So much so that the entire state went harder red. In fact, much more so. Repubs swept at the local level.
The problem is that for the first time in decades, NYC was at risk of being flipped, and if this happened, it would have been fucking apocalyptic for the Dem establishment. Veterans of New York's trials and trifles could tell you that all it would take to overturn generations of shitty establishment policy is opposition with some balls, and that is not the kind of thing that the Dem establishment could tolerate. Not when they're busy pushing the usual dystopian horse-shit harder than ever before because they know the jig is up.
.....So they fortified it. Dems effectively control almost every procedural part of election tabulation, top to bottom. While the usual suspects "won," there was more than enough chicanery to suggest some shifty shit going down, not that it will ever be investigated because the Dems control every single conceivable part of the local government that would handle that, too. The obvious question becomes: "What do we do now?"
If we are truly at the point where our vote no longer matters, the powers that be are done letting us try to extricate ourselves from under their thumbs. Well, New York activists on both sides trying to fight this aren't downing as many blackpills as you might think, so you might be a bit surprised to learn that things aren't as hopeless as they initially seem in the bigger picture.
By effectively committing to this course of action, they have made it so they need to commit to it every single election season from now on, no matter how minor, or they will lose ground, and that will result in bleed that they can't fully accomodate for. Even with all the fortification they did, that didn't translate to net gains for them, it was just enough to keep shitheads like AOC and Hochul in power. Repubs sweeping the locals is very important, because that will eventually filter upwards, and these things take time.
With the establishment types doubling down on wildly unpopular shit (as is their way), the state is only likely to drift harder Red with the shit they're doing. Fortification is all well and good but they're going to need to do it forever from now on, and the longer it goes on, the more pricey it will become, the bigger the losses during the downseasons, and the more likely they are to fuck up in some capacity or another.
I don't know what will come of it, but if anything's got me confident, it's how incompetent NYC's current management is.

Something else to keep in mind is that they have to have true believers every step of the way in fortification.
The old saying, 'Three people can keep a secret, if two of them are dead.' Well, that's not an option with this kind of conspiracy (and yes, I use that word in a criminal sense). Everyone has to be on board. Someone spills the beans and things could go sideways awfully quick.

They're playing chicken with the judiciary et all.
Lets be frank here. While the legal motions in 2020 were stupid -- they should NOT have claimed fraud, instead just claiming irregularities, since claiming fraud means you need to prove intent and malice but just claiming irregularities gets you the same thing -- at least a small consideration in every Judge's mind was the fact that if they found that the Democrats successfully rigged a national election, we would be in a civil war right now, or at least something so close to it that it'd be hard to differentiate. The Dems wouldn't have admitted rigging no matter how blatant it was (and it was VERY blatant due to there being black women involved, who are legendarily dumb and arrogant) and any attempts at redress would have been spun as the right trying to "steal" the elections the left already stole fair and square.
We'll see if the judges keep playing along. Lake is making smart legal motions from what I understand, but she's still starting too late -- she should have been in front of a judge the day of the election demanding a fix for Maricopa's blatant fuckery, not after it was finished and the fix was in. But eventually one of these Judges isn't going to play along and ignore this, or they'll have something sufficiently low tier (local election, dog catcher position, etc) that they can safely nail the rigging machine without implicating too many important people.
I think that's how this actually breaks apart. The second they can find a way to let the national party save face, they'll act, and the rigging machine will collapse silently in the background. Failing that, I have hope that eventually the GOP (via MAGA, not the GOPe) will learn how to abuse the same systems the left is abusing, which will suddenly make them the most disgustingly abusable systems known to man that must be immediately fixed for the good of "our" [their] democracy.

@Kane Lives makes a good point though. So far, nobody has made any attempt to bring them to heel with any lasting consequences.
In a disturbing way it's a lot like the pro-criminal policies pushed in places like Portland, SF, etc. Sure, they can catch the thieves -- then what? They don't get prosecuted, they're right back out on the street in an hour, tops.
And when the existing system doesn't work, sooner or later people start looking for one that does. At that point things get interesting.

Lake did sue to keep the polling places open longer on election day in Maricopa, but wouldn't you know it, the one time judges refuse this request it's when it would have benefitted the GOP. But it also had Maricopa Elections AND Mark Kelly's campaign argue against keeping the polling locations open, which I think will be used for whatever lawsuit they're planning now with the thousands of people signing their names to be part of the lawsuit.

The concern isn't that the 5G stuff could intercept or disrupt the current comms infrastructure for the silos and command centers. It's that it's a ready made distributed signals collection and jamming system for everything else. For example, all those blue F250s that roll around the front range checking on sites.
