𝕏 / Twitter / X, the Social Media Platform Formerly Known as Twitter / "MUSK OWNS TWITTER"

Stahp it, they even fact-checked her now to add salt to the wound

Some people did point this out, but Trump has a legal agreement with his Media company that anything he posts has to be on true social and nowhere else for 6 hours. So considering he has put his money where his mouth is and actually invested in it, I think he sticks to it as the main outlet he uses.

But interestingly the agreement has a catch, that is except for things related to campaigning or political messaging. I predict eventually when the campaign is really in full swing, his Twitter account will either be generic campaign messages or repeaters of what he said on Truth social 6 hours earlier. But my guess is the former his campaign runs it so it just looks like any other campaigns Twitter rather than a personal account.

I think this makes sense because he can post his most edgy material on his own site and have the more safe campaign messages on Twitter that more people will see. Obviously he has more control over something he owns and doesn't have to worry about filtering himself.

Unlike a lot of people here, I was actually supportive of his media company but I think he needs to think bigger than just a Twitter clone. Free speech web hosting, things like that would really be beneficial for the whole internet. But I'm still glad we have the splinter sites as I think it's a good idea to not put all your eggs in one basket and be reliant on just one or two social media companies.

There is a 3rd option. Truth social is an unfederated instance of mastodon. Elon could connect twitter to the fediverse and truth social could go federated. Not only would this let Trump truths appear on twitter it would also have the added benefit of basically putting all the liberals who fled to mastodon back on twitter just with an elaborate blocklist from every else.

I don't see how Trump can avoid falling into irrelevance. By 2024, he'll have not been president for 3 years, and will be truthposting to a dwindling audience who still insist the 2020 election was rightfully his. Whether it was stolen or not, all that will come of it will, at best, be the GOP pushing for electoral reform; it won't bring back Trump.

To run for office, he'll have to escape his Truth hugbox and return to Twitter. Prediction markets are about 2:1 against him tweeting this year
but 2:1 for him tweeting by end of March next year:

Not that prediction betting is any kind of oracle, but there may be something to this timeline.
Twitter did not make Trump relevant as a politician

Endless TV coverage starting in late 2015 made Trump relevant as a politician
