I get the feeling that ASMR has diverged into gendered categories. There's still some back scratching or tapping on bottles or whatever, but more and more I see either "hot chick tongue fucks an ear shaped microphone" or "chick that girls would think is hot spends three hours in makeup and costume to do something banal". Timony is increasingly guilty of the latter.

Unfortunately it seems like a lot of the 'girl in front of camera' channels are now going towards simp farming. Not lolcow material, but one of my faves, WhisperAudios went all out in July-ish. After posting about her gas bill going up 600 British Pesos a year, she had a totally-organic-and-real change of heart about sexy ASMR and now she's wearing low cut tops for certain vids and leaning hard into Patreon. Must be working, because some whale recently laid out 3000 bucks on gifts from her Throne list.

For 'genuine' ASMR vids, I can watch stuff like chiropractic adjustments where both people are boomers. For the 'roleplay' vids, seeing a pretty face is a big part of the attraction... I've never even clicked on a Tony Bomboni vid for example.
This thread has been a wild ride to read, perfectly paralleling the ASMR vid phenomenon itself. First it was a bunch of people going 'what the fuck is this' and then either 'wow I love it' or 'wow it's awful', and now it's pretty quiet as all the drama has died off and a lot of people (IMO) just got tired of it + complete saturation. Only thing I can think of that wasn't mentioned earlier is that Ardra Neala got into a relationship with Phoenician Sailor and it did not end well, but the exact details are lost on me.

I won't deny there was a lot of ASMR content with a sexual vibe, but not all of it. I'd say until fairly recently it was a small minority. Good ASMR is inherently 'intimate' though, that's what throws a lot of people. I believe the actual tingling sensation is some evolutionary throwback to when were were all monke, picking bugs out of each other's hair.
That particular case I mentioned was definitely NOT a sexual creator, and she took a fair bit of flak when she first tried out her low-cut-shirt technique, and she backed off and took it to Patreon. It was somewhat jarring to see her go from wholesome to WHOOAR but considering how fucked the UK is for heating and essentials prices, I cannot really blame someone for showing some shoulders* for cash. What's really sad tho, and this is becoming too widespread, is the Throne begging. I do not like anything about a website literally named after a queen's chair that seems to be like eBay but for simps, and it's become wayyy too common for ASMR girls to have a throne full of stuff that's not helpful for either keeping the heat on or producing more videos. I guess that's more of a topic for the e-beggars thread.
