Dead Island 2 - Welcome to HELL-A - Haha so funny

Sounds likes the Saints Row Reboot.

Pass. I prefer the original E4 2014 trailer:

I still remember the 2014 E3 trailer and I honestly believed this game had already come out. It's one of those trailers that stuck in my head purely because of its set up and music choice. It's a really good advertisement. The cinematic vision for this game was enticing and felt honest but intriguing, likely compounded by the bait and switch of the first game.

The first minute of the new trailer was a fucking pain in the ass to sit through. Couldn't be bothered to finish it. I don't often times describe something as 'cringey' but that made me feel like crawling out of my skin, and the HELL-A subtitle had nothing to do with it. What is the point of advertising an LA setting and not going for the LA voice or a valley girl? Why is the voiceover guy a pond lad?

I kind of miss cinematic trailers, even if they were all bollocks the spectacle was a joy to behold. Thinking about Dead Island and how it's saved as 'the trailer franchise' in my brain has got me appreciating good marketing.

Holy shit, I completely forgot they did a trailer years ago. I'll still keep an eye on it. But with the quality of games nowadays, I don't throw $60 at something unless I know I'll enjoy it.

Plus, the zombie genre is so fucking tired and it'll need to do something different for me to like it. I loved the original, but that was really the first open world zombie game of that era that was FPS.

i finished dying light 2 a couple weeks ago, what a fucking downgrade from the first game. story was so dumb, characters annoying and paper thin the "good guys" were radical anarcho commies who constantly insult and try to kill you while the "bad guys" are nice to you and keeps control in the zombie ridden world only to turn evil in the last 2% of the game, so fucking stupid.
God, I had a feeling the Peacekeepers were going to get fucked over by the writing team. Such a shame because that one guy you meet in the interrogation room is actually nice to you, which is a welcome change from the douchebaggery of the anarcho-commies.

dude it's so dumb, entire game they're the good guys, they treat you nicely, they help you and save your life, the leader is a nice helpful guy and then right at the end he turns into a cartoon villain wanting to kill women and children and destroy the city, it's just so out no nowhere.

That trailer was cringe as fuck and showed nothing interesting. I had low expectations but this is the best they could do after a decade?

Then there's the mandatory LGBT shit at 0:58 of the trailer, they just gotta shoehorn that in. Unless I can blow that fucking rainbow to smithereens then they can fuck off.

And was Dying Light 2 bad? I put a lot of time into the first one and couldn't bring myself to buy the sequel.
I got Dying Light 2 for cheap and it runs like shit on PC. Didn't play past the intro/tutorial. The recent patch somehow made the game worse.

But besides it's shitty running, is it bad beyond that? All I kept hearing was that it had like a 6 hour intro tutorial that was a slog to get through.

I can't say much about the story or the setting but after playing the intro, I still prefer the first game and The Following.

I figured. I probably dropped a 1,000 hours into the first one. Both the main game and The Following were great. I might reinstall it.

Cant imagine playing a zombie game that doesnt try to give you the experience that something like Project Zomboid delivers in 2022. THere are so many of these cookie cutter zombie games, they're all basically the same shit and mediocre at best, abominable cash grabs at worst.
This. PZ has proven to be the new gold standard for the experience.

Played Dead Island 1, first on PS3, then on PC with the Romero gameplay overhaul. I liked the tone and setting for the first fourth of it, got bland FAST after I left the beach though.

I wonder if the character being that obnoxious is partly because this IS set in California?

New video where they talk about the flesh system. It looks good but the gameplay isn't that impressive.

Just looks like a watered down Dying Light. This'll be DOA.

I kinda liked the old ones, so I'm holding out to see what this is like.

I'm sure it will be fine. I just feel bad if anyone was actually waiting for this for 9 years. It feels like it would be super underwhelming to them.

Dying Light 2 recently got a patch that tweaked the combat and physics to be less ass and I've been playing it for the first time. Game is alright, still not as good as the first but they're apparently planning two more major overhauls to combat and parkour respectively so I'm curious if it will be almost as good as it's prequel by that point.

Still gonna side with the Peacekeepers though, because fuck Anarcho Commies, and fuck the writers for making them the 'good' option.

I can't really see any reason to play this honestly. Dying Light was already the evolution of Dead Island mechanically and graphically that I wanted from the original game, this just looks like a worse version of that game apart from a cleaner presentation. Gore and combat physics look better than DL2, sure, but no parkour is a deal breaker to me.
