A few weeks after 9/11 I was aboard a bus on the way to Fort A.P. Hill. Concrete barrier walls had been lined up zigzaged in the road leading into the base from the gate and fence line. Two months prior I had come here for a few weeks of training during the summer. Then, it had been absent any barriers or strange security accoutrements. Defcon 3 had changed things as far as the army went. Back home and at school, life went on as normal. We didn't have targets worth flying planes into, we lived in another Podunk. USA town safe from Allahu-Akbaring Hajis. When I was a little kid my dad had full base privleges. We could go onto any base around us by just showing his ID. We could even fly anywhere in the world in a military cargo plane as long as there was room for us on it.

After we stopped at the gate, an NCO came onboard. He was an SSG of an SFC -I don't think I ever really saw his tabs from where I was sitting in the back. What I do remember is the silence that came over the bus when he hoped up the steps and passed the driver. He placed his hands on his hips, took some steps down the aisle, and gave us all a good look over. Then he asked us, demanding to know, "Who wants to go to Afganistan?!". Our answer was a clear "Hooah!". I had never said anything more clearly and loudly in my life. Without hesitation or delay. I was just a cadet and didn't know anything about the world. I knew facts, but didn't understand anything. I was one of the few kids that had a computer and an Internet connection. 4chan was 2 years away.

Sometimes I wonder how different the world would have been had 9/11 not transpired. I've seen the world change. You've all seen the world change. None of it is for the better. The people who hated our guts, hated our freedoms as we were told, and wanted to harm us, now walk among us almost everywhere in our own country. I don't even like traveling by plane anymore. When we left Afghanistan in the most ass-way possible I felt like a spell over me had been broken. I could see the world more clearly now than I ever could. Everything that happened between that day on the bus and watching Hajis get stuck in landing gear seemed like it was all some weird mirage, some weird They Live shit. My town isn't safe from anything anymore, the enemies come from our own culture and weird shit off the Internet.. And now I can see these degenerate puppy-play fucks disgracing their uniforms and something occurs to me: maybe the Hajis were right, inshallah.

Attorney general petitioned State Supreme Court. They said "Try Again Later" and declined to intervene. So the temporary hold remains until at least the 13th when the judge will hold a hearing to determine if it should continue to be held while the lawsuits proceed. Presumably the State Supreme Court saw no additional risk by holding it for a few more days so there was no reason to do anything at this point.

I wouldn't ascribe too much to the Hajis being right, they're just willing to defend their culture and religion, even if both are awful. It's hard for me to point out a moment of great revelation to me like you had. I've always been "awake" to this bullshit, and it was an iterative thing as I observed stuff in action. I wasn't really interested in anything outside of my own little world and video games in the Clinton years but after 9/11 I was hyper critical of the obvious propaganda and societal warping that was going on in the aftermath of 9/11 by the media. I found stuff like the Toby Keith song "Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue" very cringe and I felt a lot of the flag waving by politicians and entertainers was not genuine at all. By chance, I learned about The Daily Show, and in those early days the content was more akin to a stage magician doing the trick then showing how the trick was done something that was extremely educational, by 2005-2006 the show began its hard left slide and I stopped watching it, plus I was busy with other stuff.

I think the biggest influence in my current opinions was watching the Obama admin do absolutely nothing regarding the financial crash, zero people got prosecuted for overt fraudulent conduct, particularly in the rating agencies, if anything they were rewarded for it, this was when I realized that that the uniparty existed, something that was concealed quite well prior to the advances on the internet in the late 00s which allowed great levels of archiving and comparison of this to that. I'm of the opinion that neo-liberalism, of which neo-conservatism is just a modest rebranding of, is just as toxic and nation destroying as communism. The founders of the US always embraced commerce (NOT CAPITALISM) but the introduction of neo-liberal poison to the country in the 1980s has utterly eviscerated the body and soul of the US far more than communism ever did to the Warsaw Pact and Soviet Union. Each component nation that suffered under communism remains intact, with a unique culture and people improverished, but exactly where they had always resided. 40 years of neo-liberal doctrine in the West has led to the host populations being displaced, the economies destroyed as it was outsourced, and the culture corrupted beyond repair. The beliefs of free trade, free movement of money, and free movement of people mean there wont be a USA any longer, just a United Economic Zones of America as any identity that once existed will be diluted down by endless waves of migrants, hell the late Millenials and Zoomers are already a totally deracinated group to begin with. They have absolutely nothing tethering them to any particular area as they don't give a shit about family.

When the collapse in Afghanistan happened I still managed to be stunned at how inept it was handled, and this was after watching the 2020 riots get handled so incompetently along with the covid lockdowns being meekly accepted by the bulk of the population. I'm finally at the point where I understand that the government and military is so brittle and frail, and the people are so broken that a warlord could just slice off huge parts of the landmass of this country with almost no resistance. A decently charismatic individual whom can motivate people to crush this system is all that it takes, the US is no longer capable of doing any sort of military action beyond just aerial bombardments via plane and drone, its become so enfeebled by technology that the moment that the supply chain breaks for these high end toys it will wither and die. The Roman state lasted many years after Honorius' awful reign if you're looking for an example time period, so most of us will be grey beards by the time the "bang" hits this country, but I'm firmly in the camp that I will see the USA dissolve into nothingness like the Holy Roman Empire and strongmen will feast on its emaciated bones before I expire.

The GOP candidate who Trump endorsed and won is the guy who ran for Lt. Gov, and he was the only "new" candidate not bolstered by incumbency, which is why he won by 5 pts instead of Kemp's 7. Incumbency is always a factor, so that's why he didn't win as much and this is some kind of Trump gotcha. But all this shows is apparently GA actually is racist, because they voted for the white guy for Lt. Richard Baris' new Inside The Numbers talks about the inside baseball, and how Walker chose to go with the GOPe team in order to get the money resources (which were still not used), while Masters told them to fuck off and then was given nothing. He also goes on to talk about Ronna Romney around 50 minutes in which is worth a listen to.

1) These people, along with others, effectively promised they would wipe the floor against the Left across the board this November, and it didn't happen.

2) The popular vote (especially from a cumulative pov) doesn't matter in the end of the day.

3) Republicans by and large already have a pretty good position across various state legislatures. Obviously it's good to have more seats, but it's not exactly much of an improvement if they happened to have gained extra seats in states that are already very Red.

4) Say what you will about a lot of Trump choices, but they still didn't do half as bad. A lot of them barely lost.

5) Thanks for reminding us all how much electoral votes Georgia has. It would be real shame if you guys happen to lose them next election because you didn't stand up to election "fortification".
