Blizzard takes the high road in responding to their critics.

Those customer complaints sound similar to the ones directed at Pokémon Scarlet & Violet. Heck, if you replace all of the Dragonflight, WoW, or Blizzard words with Scarlet/Violet, Pokémon, or Game Freak/Nintendo, the comments would still be so on point that you can't notice that it was edited. Except that Game Freak (and other Japanese companies) don't respond to criticism in this way, and GF would get their ass fried if they dared to do so. And I do wonder if Blizzard really thought of Pokémon as competition, as to why they had a Free-to-play weekend on S/V's release weekend.

But in that sense, would Blizzard staying silent be preferable?

I can’t find the picture, but I’m reminded of CDPR roasting Pokémon go as being a buggy mess that crashes constantly as they were riding hot off the heels of CP2077 hype. Well, now that the game is out…

This is like that soyjak meme of the dude with the smiling mask and underneath he's bawling come to life.
Just so you know, making this cost a raid tier.

(I'd actually had the idea before I read your post, but like many wow things, this had to be delayed due to totally predictable circumstances that were nevertheless not accounted for)

I like how that old drake(?) model that's almost 20 years old has more little details and flourishes to it (while still being derpy as fuck) and actually looks like something reptilian/draconic/whatever.

And then that green chicken-dragon thing that looks like that Spongebob meme where he's bent over. It's all silky-smooth, no real scales or monstrous appearance to it. It's cartoony and reminiscent of furry-bait shit. Smooth, aesthetically appealing straight lines/angles.

Obligatory.

Is it nit-picky and a weird detail to get fixated on? Sure. Should a fucking AAA studio be improving/progressing on a 20 year old model? Yep.

I keep harping on it, but it's a fucking shame how far the art direction has fallen.

So much cringe

Edit: someone above commented that whoever was responsible for this should be shoved in a locker, I'd like to add they also be given a massive wedgie and forced to use a pronoun they don't identify with for a week.

I remember this kind of behavior working out great for Rings of Power and She Hulk.

What kind of idiots attack their customers when their last two products were shit and the new one is off to a rough start? It's one thing when you're doing great to talk shit, but when you're a on a sinking ship it's a bad idea to call the people around you names.

The actual videos are way worse.

Holy shit, these look like shitty ads for mobile games that would install a bitcoin miner on your phone.

I know that they want to pander to Winnie Pooh audience the most, but to the point where they make same ads
that Winnie Pooh people would make for their shitty mobile games? That's sad :story:

Apparently those ads (yes, they were ads) have been taken down already. Brav-o, Blizz.

Also:
I legitimately thought that was a shitpost, because I thought there was no fucking way
developers would be this open about their degeneracy but holy shit it's is real

Blizzard really decided to replace sex pests that acted like frat guys with furry sex pests, who instead of harassing women in closed spaces,
they harass players with their extremely subtle fetishes that they implemented in their game that has a teen rating.

In conclusion:

Holy fuck, I did not know I could feel second hand embarrassment this sharply.

edit because because:

This has been the weirdest pain point for me. For a long time the newer dragon models have looked weirdly off- smooth, heads too big or too small or weirdly shaped. Accessories or jewelry that would be impossible to put on, painful to wear or strait up in the way. And now that they look like thrown together mix and match oily plastic or wax figures from a Gumby inspired mobile game, they gross me out in ways I can't really put into words.

It's like wow is now being run by the people who made all those ads in the sidebars of old websites.
"Cum play, m'lord!" But instead of a generic attractive woman in a low cut sorceress outfit its a dragon wiggling its eyebrows and showing off its inexplicably canid penis.

To be fair, half the time those various elves and dranei would have a penis
Yeah, but half the time the various elves and draenei had dicks, they were male elves and draenei still

Then things naturally progressed as they do on the internet to all gorldicks all the time until now we have dragonpeople with triple draenei horsedicks

Also:
I'm going to air on slight caution because any schmuck can call himself an anonymous blizzard dev and drag someone through the mud just because they happen to label themselves as such. Would I be surprised if it's real? No, not really given the awkward fetish shit the game is slipping through and barely disguising (why is every fucking gay couple in this expansion furries or some variation of it? Why are the Dakkanoid's feet and toes so awkwardly articulated and distractingly detailed? Why do the dracthyr... look like what they look like and why do their visages look like souped up fuckboys?).

Oh my god I hope this is real.

"There isn't a lot to do in this expansion"
"You should expand your mind and use your imagination"

is not the clap back that you think it is.

WoW has asked a ton of players over the years (the community building the world first scene, constant bug testing/feedback/suggestions, developing the entire UI through mods, creating the entire tutorial experience though youtube videos) but this might be the first time I've seen a studio literally say "We didn't finish the game - but maybe you all can pretend like we finished it - use your imagination".

Sadly for WoW there's already a high-fantasy game that centers around dragons (and dungeons) that is based around a group of people using their imaginations.

If this is the best Blizzard can do before the Microsoft acquisition (aka trying to get a "good" expansion out the door) complete with a huge marketing push and all the PR stuff they're trying - Phil Spencer is going to fucking fire every person in that building on Day 1.
