Oh, the truth is somewhere in the middle and I'd bet money he's fundamentally undereducated about things like sex. I don't think I set that dichotomy up; that's the basis of Winifred's argument. My own thoughts are that we don't know what motivates him because we don't know him. He might be a rollicking sexual sadist and she might be trapped.

Being overcome by lust in your own marriage is pretty shameful in some conservative Christian cultures. While raping your wife might not get you reported to the police, you could face some grave consequences. And it's messed up, because social status is so important that it might be excused in one couple and ignored, and another man might get both their arms broken, and another woman might be made into a pariah.

I guess I arguably had a cultish upbringing, and I'm always a little disappointed how people seem to think the extremely religious aren't just naive and ignorant, but very stupid and not like them. They still inhabit your world. And for people like Nathan and Nurie, they also have phones and use the internet. They're not as culturally far apart from you as you think.

For Jaylee's one month anniversary, Shrek and Jill permitted Jonathan to pay for their six plates of dinner while Kaylee started at her shoes.

Jaylee was also required to buy their first Christmas tree with Kaylee's entire family in tow (probably so Jonathan could pay for the Rod tree). It's clear that Kaylee wasn't permitted to bring any of the shared family winterwear with her when she got married, and as a result she's huddled in the single hoodie she owns, freezing. Jonathan did not offer her his coat.

Jesus christ, Jill bragged about it on Facebook during the week or so after Nemmy's birth. Jill gave this out as the reason Nurie was in a wheelchair while being dragged out and about.

Nurie got pregnant again within 12 weeks of giving birth to Nemmy. The proof is that her kids just barely missed being Irish twins.

Go back and check this thread for posts in November 2021 and find the proof for yourself. Your feelings are irrelevant to the facts we've all spent time cataloging.

It's less patriarchal than you think and she is likely more equal to Nathan than you think. Plenty of pastors' wives are Z-list Megan Markle knockoffs and sort of "celebrities" within their own circles. Nurie has a whole bevvy of women to do her bidding. She could outdo her mom at selling Plexxus, but she's choosing to be a very different person. And considering Jill can ride roughshod over Nathan, I think it says a lot Nurie is doing her own thing. I don't think she's the little soft pushover everyone imagines. She's Jill's daughter. She also has a lot more class.

Nurie is clearly unwell. Maybe Nathan is asking her to see a doctor and she is refusing. Maybe he suggested it once and she couldn't say yes and now everyone is pretending nothing is wrong. Maybe she really has been to the doctor and nothing is wrong with her or her doctor thinks this is perfectly healthy and doesn't recommend any changes. Maybe Nurie has tried to ask for medical care unsuccessfully. Maybe she doesn't realize that she can. All of us are just watching this family from the outside and speculating, we have no idea what's actually happening.

But just looking at the photos, she is unwell and nobody is taking care of her, not even Nurie herself.

If Nurie's bevvy of women and apparent social influence are going to kick in and help her, I hope they do so soon.

If that is where I think it is, the monument is about a 30 minute walk from one of those Christian retreat centers that churches can rent out for weekend away events. I wonder if they grifted their way into the place letting them stay there as a "ministry", since surely Jill would have said if they were performing or attending some kind of retreat.

Anyway, I don’t think anyone here is wishing ill will on the Rodlets. The problem is that this “cultish” mentality is very difficult to get away from. It would take some serious self reflection, probably therapy, and that would also require time alone to process which just clearly isn’t allowed. Not with Mama Raccoon decorating your fucking house while you’re away. Certainly not when you’re pregnant with your second child after dealing with charges related to being unable or unwilling to properly buckle the first kid in a car seat. The outlook is not so great.

Going to see someone once a week who tries to convince you to hate your father has limited helpfulness, in the same way praying for answers just isn't the be-all, end-all. Kiwi Farms as a whole can't be held responsible for one jerk assertig Nurie is both abused and deserves it, but it's happened, and I think it's pretty messed up to be obviously delighted.

There are a couple people here who pretty obviously get off to bad things happening to religious people. I'd also bet money they're completely harmless. Being unpleasant isn't a crime. Yeah I would hope no one wishes harm on the kids, even the adult ones, unless they do something genuinely despicable. Nurie might be Jill's golden child, but she's still been starved and shamed into an obvious eating disorder and been thru lord only knows what else. I don't think her being dragged around after giving birth or getting pregnant so soon after riping her taint open w/the first nurthing was good, but sadly it's not like Jill wasn't enthusiasticly encouraging it all (hell I assume she was the main one insisting Nurie be dragged all over creation immediately postpartum).
