Infected Sword Enthusiasts - folded up to a million times!

Just when they couldn't get 20% lamer. Nothing would be more embarrassing than to get hit with one of those things.

It's a similar mentality to the "wearing a fedora = class [regardless of appearance otherwise]" one.

Autists fixate on a single detail, so the fact that Humphrey Bogart is wearing a tailored suit, is clean shaven, isn't covered in Cheeto dust, and isn't a fat virgin goes unnoticed. But they see the fedora.

Swords are basically a litmus test for whether a person is a nerd who is trying to look "cool" or intimidating.

Just look at all the pics in this thread. My favorite one is the morbidly obese guy with two arm blades, doing a pose directly from Assassins' Creed Brotherhood. Sorry, but that extra 300 lbs really takes away any coolness factor you might have achieved. Thing is, even thin people don't look "cool" holding swords.

Because I know what's going through these people's minds. They have this unique looking sword with curves, and spikes and ancient runes on it, and in their mind, they think people are gonna look at that and go "whoah, that dude looks like he's straight out of a movie!"

When in reality, everyone's going " Oh, you bought that piece of shit for like $40 in the Chinese Bootleg Store in your local shopping mall, didn't ya? Did you also pick up a TRUE and HONEST copy of 'My Name Called Bruce starring Bruce Le' while you were there?"

This is why I love the one sword I own. She's unique. I built her from scratch, and she stays where any good sword should.

On the wall.

I never can understand the spergs on this issue. I mean swords are cool sure. If I had an obscene amount of money (Read: Not living in a trailer park like half of these bums) I might buy a nice one for decoration purposes, a suit of armor on a stand posing with a greatsword would look cool if I did actually have it custom fitted for me.

However that's a fantasy and I'm actually going to spend my paycheck on things actually valuable before I would even dream of putting money towards this.

As much as how nice some swords are, they really do serve as nothing more than just a decorative piece. The whole appeal in swinging a sword would have to tie in with watching romanticized and/or ignorant fiction that paints the sword as some ultimate weapon. As some mentioned earlier in the thread, they aren't the best when considering things like reach. Beyond that though, sword spergs wouldn't have that awareness when they think a million folded katana or fantasy shaped flea market sword makes them think the "coolness" of their sword would be testament to its usefulness.
