Conservatives get so mad when you tell then they won't stop the next thing, but I've witnessed this for thirty straight years:

  1. The left says they're going to push a new change.
  2. Conservatives say, "The last change was fine, but this is too far! People will never tolerate it! We have all the guns! We'll vote out the Democrats."
  3. The left does the thing via legislation, regulation, and corporate policy.
  4. Conservatives do not overthrow the government.
  5. Conservatives do not come up with any actionable plan to get what they claim to be passionate about.
  6. Republicans at some point win an election and focus on cutting taxes and starting wars; the last leftist thing becomes a social institution.
The last two things to go through this process were Obamacare and gay marriage. We joked in 2012 that in a few years, conservatives would say, "I'm for traditional gay marriage, not this transgender stuff," and thats exactly what conservatives are saying ten years later.

But before that, it was the generic "he" and the word "mankind." It was high-flow showerheads. It was letting kids ride their bikes halfway across the county. It was safe cities, clean streets, and Christmas celebrations. I remember when conservatives said they would never tolerate unmarried people openly living together, I know today hardly any Republican-voting married people who didn't live together for a couple years first.

The list of thing conservatives said they'd go to the mattresses for is infinite. The list of things they actually did anything about is really, really short.

There are actual values that people hold and they want their elected officials to represent that. Unfortunately while the left-wing grift is "craft a narrative that's emotionally supportive of narcissism" the right-wing grift is "craft a narrative that gets headpats from the left". "We're actually more liberal than you, hypocrite" is the defiant sperg of the conservative with his head in the guillotine.

TBF, the conservatives are trying to appeal to squishy centrists to avoid being attached to the religious conservatism they had in the past. It's just that we see that squishy centrists aren't worth appealing to despite being the majority. When push came to shove, they voted for Biden according to them because they keep saying electoral fraud didn't happen.

Squishy centrists aren't actually the majority though. Most people want to hang trannies and pedos from lamp posts. Most people privately agree with Kanye. The only reason people don't like the "religious conservatism" of the past is because it wasn't hard enough. Conservatives are gatekeepers first and foremost. They want you to think the most important thing is conserving Israel and liberalism. Past that it's whatever. If you disagree you're a lulz-seeking dementor.

You know that there's no first hand confirmation for that quote and it originates from a biography from the 90s that an Air Force One steward claims he heard Johnson say, right, or are you such a retard that you unquestioningly believe whatever unverifiable hearsay statements best fit your narrow worldview?

I do know that as a senator he supported the passage of the 1957 CRA, actively supported desegregation efforts as President, like pushing through desegregation in schools and forcing J Edgar Hoover to actively investigate the Midsissippi Burnings, and nominated Thurgood Marshall, probably the most radical SCOTUS justice until Ketanji Brown Jackson.

Our answer was a clear "Hooah!". I had never said anything more clearly and loudly in my life. Without hesitation or delay. I was just a cadet and didn't know anything about the world. I knew facts, but didn't understand anything. I was one of the few kids that had a computer and an Internet connection. 4chan was 2 years away.

Sometimes I wonder how different the world would have been had 9/11 not transpired. I've seen the world change. You've all seen the world change. None of it is for the better. The people who hated our guts, hated our freedoms as we were told, and wanted to harm us, now walk among us almost everywhere in our own country. I don't even like traveling by plane anymore. When we left Afghanistan in the most ass-way possible I felt like a spell over me had been broken. I could see the world more clearly now than I ever could. Everything that happened between that day on the bus and watching Hajis get stuck in landing gear seemed like it was all some weird mirage, some weird They Live shit. My town isn't safe from anything anymore, the enemies come from our own culture and weird shit off the Internet.. And now I can see these degenerate puppy-play fucks disgracing their uniforms and something occurs to me: maybe the Hajis were right, inshallah.

No 9-11 would have meant Bush gets voted out in 2004 and Hillary's ascension. Obama is stuck in the Senate and compromises himself so completely he becomes Corey Booker lite and/or another media talking head type.

Only wildcard would be how the economic crash of 2008 plays out and whether or not Lieberman, in this timeline, switches to Republican when McCain offers him the VP slot in 2008.
