A handful of the shittiest people you know got timed out from Twitter for a few hours and these idiots think it's Kristallnacht.

https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Thursday_Night_Massacre_(Twitter)

These are the least impressive, least serious people imaginable.

That has to be one of the most frivolous, butthurt-induced articles ever written on that thing.

I'm realising only in the last months what Wikipedia is truly like, and I'm of the opinion that it should be wiped off the internet, or at least significantly rethought in scope. I don't like saying these kinds of things, I owe Wikipedia much of my basics of knowledge of ancient history and cultural anthropology, but ah well, I guess I can settle for Britannica or Iranica.

It's picking different positions on the fly based on whether, in that moment, they're better for your hidden, ulterior motive, and then grandstanding that position as if you've always had it, only to switch again, it's not just inconsistency, it's more malicious, a deliberate tactic.

Attention spans are short, and people don't care about inconsistencies within their own group, same goes for the right alternating for regulation or deregulation of the internet. Twitter's small word limits incentivizes behavior like that, it takes significantly more words to explain the deceptive thing someone is doing, and no one wants to read it, deception, lies, shit flinging, etc, will always have the advantage.

Key difference with the left is that, though they can't meme, their specialty is deceptive wordplay, and they can sell "we were ~always~ against ______" alot better.

IMO, the solution would be to come up with a simple, concise term that could be popularized and easily thrown into the faces of those who do it, like sealioning, but less retarded.
You mean like "(perpetual/malicious) vacillating"?

"Thursday night massacre" :story:
These people, Particularly this Hunter Kahn guy who wrote the original revision make it sound like a terrorist attack. Not sure what Sandbox is he copied it from but looks like this page was spun off the Twitter suspensions one.

Edit: According to a New York Post article, Hunter Kahn named it that because it was a trend on Twitter.

I thought being the kiwifarms, you guys would be the authority on the argument whether elonjet was indeed doxing or it's just "publicly available information". Instead you are just wandering on weird tangents.
Look, most of us WISH we could write a program to track lolcows daily.

The main issue is that every time KF says "this is all publicly available information", everyone yells that it's doxing private info. So nobody here really cares what is or isn't doxing, because everyone wants to categorize it how they want anyways. I always thought doxing was actually stripping anonymity from someone who tried to stay anonymous, not simple google searches of voting or tax records on spergs who flaunt their real identities online.

The talk page of that article is a shitshow in of itself. Most of it is requests to delete the article and doomposting about wikipedia as a whole.

Taylor Lorenz got suspended for doxing herself and Elon posted the license plate of someone harassing him.

Twitter has fully adopted poa.st's doxing policy.

Even on A&H the predominant sentiment is "lol checkmarks assmad" instead of really pretending this is about principles.
I haven't seen the Free Speech sermonizing you're talking about at all. I know it's an easy gotcha, but it's actually got to, well, got to be valid. Everyone's just reveling in people they hate being miserable instead of thinking Twitter's experiencing some huge moral change for the platform.
What are you talking about? There's speds in this very thread who are saying that and cheering Musk on. He is/was a darling on A&H.

The same people who threw a tantrum about people getting banned for violating the TOS are now celebrating journalists getting the ban for criticizing Musk.

Sorry but your side has hypocritical dumbasses, too.

For the record, I said it before and I will say it again, if you violate the terms of service, whatever they are, they should be able to ban you. Musk now owns Twitter, so you gotta follow the rules to stay on. But it is fucking hilarious he's so thin skinned that he bans journalists who are critical of him while pretending to be a champion of free speech and alt-right speds eat it all up

At this point, everyone in society is pointing to everyone else in society yelling hypocrite, and everyone is right about it, no matter their side. It's like that fucking spiderman meme has come to life.

I remember posting one day how US discourse right now is everyone knowing that there are a lot of people needing to be prosecuted for crimes, but everyone wants the other guy's person to be the first to be prosecuted. So the whole thing just keeps going with nobody being prosecuted because everyone knows once the first one goes, the next are coming.

Taylor is Claiming its a permanent suspension. And she is absolutely confused. There has been NO communication from Twitter! They have...hold me guys, this is going to shock you...not even explained to her what rule or policy she violated! This is of course an unprecedented injustice. How could a social media company do this?
