I have a soft spot in my heart for .40, my dad got me an old taurus pt 100 lol. Damn thing was made on Dec 1 1991 but it still works fine to this day.

Always happy to see Duelist mentioned, he's kinda around my area. Gave me some advice on a shop before in comments, very based. I'd suggest CapandBall too. Comfy hungarian black powder goodnessDuelist1954 is a based boomer. He can chew my bare balls any day.
Also the level of autism about making good black powder in Like Fire and Powder is amazing (by Brett Gibbons of the Paper Cartridges channel). GOEX fans on suicide watch.
40 S&W persists specifically because of ammo shortages, when ammo is plentiful everyone trades them in, when ammo is scarce people clamor to buy them. At least that's how it is in my neck of the woods.Every guntuber I watch swears up and down 40 S&W is dead, and yet it is not only still here, but my friend that I got into firearms over the past year is planning on buying one and won't have his mind shifted one bit, despite shooting 9mm and 38 special. I also can attest 10mm is overhyped, gun shops rarely have ammo in my area, and when they do, slim pickings.
Same over here. It is the reserve currency, so to speak, you can't go wrong keeping one in your safe, so when everyone goes "where's all the 9mm" you can sit back and laugh in your piles of 40.40 S&W persists specifically because of ammo shortages, when ammo is plentiful everyone trades them in, when ammo is scarce people clamor to buy them. Eh, I have enough piles of everything else I really don't need to introduce another cartridge. Besides, I've got a G32 so if I ever get bitten by the .40 bug I'll just get a barrel and recoil spring for that.Same over here. The 19, 23, & 32 all use an 18# spring.Eh, I have enough piles of everything else I really don't need to introduce another cartridge. Besides, I've got a G32 so if I ever get bitten by the .40 bug I'll just get a barrel and recoil spring for that.
The more you know, all I need is the barrel then. I've tested the mags in a 23 and they are literally identical. The 19, 23, & 32 all use an 18# spring.
You should be ok.
The 23 and 32 use the same mags, capacity is also the same. The more you know, all I need is the barrel then. I've tested the mags in a 23 and they are literally identical.
The 23 and 32 are identical besides the markings and barrel, that is correct. And yeah I'm gonna get 19 mags if I ever get a 19 barrel for it, but I already have other nines that I like way better than the 19, I really do not like the G19 tbh and I don't have any reason to do that. The 23 and 32 use the same mags, capacity is also the same.
9mm is OK from a 40/357 mag but would get G17/19 mags just to be sure.
My understanding is other than the markings & barrel the 23 and 32 are the same gun.
I keep getting told by people that it's not underloaded anymore, but just looking it up you can see that most still is. It's bizarre to me that a cartridge hyped for its power gets underdelivered on by most manufacturers.the "better" 10mm is fucking shit unless you buy one of like three loadings on the market that actually bothers to try load to 10mm pressures, which they all claim they do.
Perhaps it was my imagination, but having once looked at and handled a couple of Taurus pistols from around the 80s and early 90s, they seem a good bit nicer put together than later production ones I remember.I have a soft spot in my heart for .40, my dad got me an old taurus pt 100 lol. There is a reason for that: the FBI are pussies, and even though they eventually got .40 ( a blessed cartridge that still lives on, especially in South America, much to TFBTV chagrin) they came up with the "FBI load" which unlike the FBI load for 38 special, is not based, and is just 40 with a long case, all so they could use those shiny new 10mm pistols they bought.I keep getting told by people that it's not underloaded anymore, but just looking it up you can see that most still is. Most feds (and police in general) barely ever get any kind of firearms practice to begin with. For most of them their pistol is just a paperweight they get to pull out when they're scared. There is a reason for that: the FBI are pussies, and even though they eventually got .40 ( a blessed cartridge that still lives on, especially in South America, much to TFBTV chagrin) they came up with the "FBI load" which unlike the FBI load for 38 special, is not based, and is just 40 with a long case, all so they could use those shiny new 10mm pistols they bought.
Sadly that's why we got the cucked versions today. They'll still drop you dead, but they aren't bear killers. If you want those you either have to search hard or load them. Still, at least most of the new pistols coming out are rated for the hot loads, like that Smith 2.0 I like. Most feds (and police in general) barely ever get any kind of firearms practice to begin with. I'm guessing there are similar laws to Mexico where you can't own the military's chosen calibers? IE 38 Super, .40, and .45 take the place of 9mm?.40 ( a blessed cartridge that still lives on, especially in South America, much to TFBTV chagrin)
From what I've gathered, the police, of all agencies, really fucking like it still, especially in Brazil. They literally made a Steyer Aug SMG in .40 just for them.I'm guessing there are similar laws to Mexico where you can't own the military's chosen calibers?
