Why Lizzo is setting out to be the next beauty standard

Lizzo is the ultimate girl's girl who is redefining modern-day beauty standards. She's blazing trails and uplifting her fans one sparkling bodysuit at a time – so, why can't we all be as body confident as the superstar rapper?

In a brilliant interview, Lizzo rightly calls herself a "body icon" and celebrates the likes of Kim Kardashian for helping women embrace their bodies, no matter the shape, size or colour. The 'Juicy' songstress has us feeling inspired and we hope what she has to say does the same for you!

"It may not be one person's ideal body type just like, say, Kim Kardashian might not be someone's ideal, but she's a body icon and has created a modern-day beauty standard," the 34-year-old told PEOPLE.

'One day that will just be the standard'

"And what I'm doing is stepping into my confidence and my power to create my own beauty standard. And one day that will just be the standard," she added.

Lizzo's rise to fame hasn't come without its attacks from the haters. In a 2021 social media post, she slammed "fatphobic" trolls who publicly targeted her online because she doesn't "fit into the box" they "want to put us in."

In another post she pointed out the obvious, something her relentless haters simply can't come to terms with. "Bodies are not all designed to be slim with a six-pack."

And true to form, Lizzo gave fans advice with a healthy dose of sass."If you're feeling down on yourself today, just remember that your body is your body. Nobody got your body. So enjoy that b***h."

'I'm a body icon'

Fast-forward to the end of 2022 and Lizzo's at the top, both in her career and mindset. "I think I have a really hot body! I'm a body icon, and I'm embracing that more and more every day," she tells PEOPLE.

"I had to blaze a trail," she says, admitting, "There was no Lizzo before Lizzo.

"I don't think I'm the only kind of fat girl there is. I want us to be freed from that box we've been put in."

What's more, Lizzo is where she is for a reason. "I deserve the spotlight. I deserve the attention. I'm talented, I'm young, I'm hot. You know? And I've worked hard."

Yes, girl.

No normal man will feel attracted to her no matter how much media promotes her. IT doesn't work like that. Like, no matter how much they present the soyboy as the male archetype, I would rather die single than having anything to do with one.

Lizzo is a True and Honest deathfat.
Does she have a thread here? She should.

I listened to her new Christmas song and I’m really not crazy about her vibrato. Her breath control needs a lot of work too, as she takes very obvious shallow breaths when singing. It would improve her sound if she tried to lose weight so she could breathe easier.
Not only is she a hamplanet, she’s also, unfortunately, not a very talented one. Maybe this is why she’s considered some sort of “icon” to the overeating and underachieving. She’s a walking, quaking participation trophy.

Ella Fitzgerald already did it way better, and far earlier than Lizzo, without making it all about being fat and black. I could listen to Ella Fitzgerald for hours. Lizzo, not so much.

If you constantly have to tell people that you're beautiful, you're not beautiful. I don't give a FUCK how much you insist this mass of fat is supposed to be hot, I will never want to fuck her. I can't wait until her 15 minutes of fame is done and she's thrown onto whatever trash heap all the pop princesses of the 2010s ended up on. That or a massive heart attack live on stage...

"Bodies are not all designed to be slim with a six-pack."

Maybe not everyone can have a sixpack but a human body is designed to have an ideal amount of weight put on it. It varies from natural build to natural build in terms of fat retention and natural leanness or height etc. But Lizzo is not a natural case she's like an elderly or sickly elephant predators just have to get her to overexert herself and they are eating good for a long long time.

Nice, now I can say the kind of girls I can pull are beyond beautiful, 9/10s.
Lizzo is the type of woman that other women hang around to look more attractive by comparison. Lizzo would look more attractive if she bothered to lose weight, but that would possibly upset her fanbase because she caters to the fat acceptance crowd.

Holy shit... that's exactly why they picked her. The last fatty singer they promoted, whatever the fuck her name was, was white and then lost a bunch of weight once she got popular which pissed off all the fat acceptance bitches who probably were happily thinking "yeah, I'm overweight, but not as fat as her, lololololol."

A fat, obnoxious, black woman is never going to shed those pounds until she's rendering in a crematorium. So TPTB get a dancing (literal) monkey until she drops dead, to get money from the FA consoomers.

No... Thankfully this is one of the places where all efforts at subversion have failed. They try and try but all they are able to do it force gross clothing and porn adds in here and there and write a lot of cringe articles about how everything is changing. A gross land whale is always going to be gross because while the details of such standards are somewhat open, nothing outside of a perverse fetish is ever going to naturally tune itself to things like that!

This is the postmodern aesthetic reaching mainsteam pop culture. It used to be limited to fine art, orchestras, theater... but now it's everywhere. Intentional ugliness, intentional trash, but the crowd will never say it because that would mean they don't "get it".

Why is there so much marketing being done for fat negress? Not just that, talentless fat oversexualized negress. Cable TV shows ads now, has for a few years when you haven't watched anything for a few minutes. HBO is apparently pushing some garbage Lizzo 'documentary' as one of their biggest hits. Wonders why they are floundering after game of thrones went out with a whimper.

Literally because they're the ugliest and least appealing "type". This is basically the pop culture beauty version of putting a urinal on display in an art museum.

Is this why guys troon out? To balance out the horrors brought about by hambeasts like Lizzo? Some weird attempt to restore balance to something? Nature is fucking weird.

Here's the song she's covering.
