Sony hate thread

I see RROD-level of malfunctions on the horizon. Every Sony product i've ever owned, from digital cameras to headphones to their consoles, was shoddily made. The last issue was the tiny screws inside of my PS4 being of such garbage quality that one twist of the screwdriver completly ruined them, a bitch and a half to get them out afterwards.

Edit: Shit, i had to flip my first-gen PS1 upside down to get games to work eventually and i knew many people who had this same exact problem. QC is anathema to Sony.
Seems like a unique experience as personally I've experienced Sony products to outlast most of its competitors. I think the only console that I would label sturdier than some of the playstations I've had has been the nintendo gamecube, that fucking brick could survive the apocalypse.

I absolutely detest that especially when on top of that they use bullshit proprietary heads. So they have the money to get some special screw but then make it out of the shittiest Chinesium money can buy.
It wasn't even one of these proprietary screws! Just one of these tiny, cross-slit ones. I already knew from disassembling PS2's how absolute shit the quality of Snoy's screws are and gave this one a weak, buttery-smooth twist and it got completly ruined, i had to resort to soldering it out in the end because not even the rubberband trick was working on this piece of shit.

And i agree, those proprietary screws are bullshit, had to order the tool online because, of course, no hardware store around me was selling this shit.

Eh, it could very well be, i got exceptionally bad luck when buying new electronics.

I agree, mine is at another family members house and still works flawlessly.

The base PS5 has an entire Mosfat uncooled on the board. The system really needs a revision for cooling. The design is clownish. The series X and S are properly cooled and functional designs. Idk how the ps5s design ever got approved as it is. It's embarrassing

What? I thought it's big open vagina face was meant to dissapate heat? Why is it so large if not for cooling?

My theory is Xbox announced their specs first. They out preformed the PS5 on paper. Sony panicked and attempted to boost the system from a flat 9TF to a max clock of 10TF with a boost clock (Series X is 12tf all the time. Fixed clock speeds. PS5 varies) Resulting in them also scrambling for a different cooling system. Which resulted in over sights like an entire Mosfat which gets pretty hot being entirely outside of any airflow. The ps5 also doesn't use a vapor chamber which the series x does. The series x has a single fan and a vapor chamber and cools the system properly. There isn't anything left out of the airflow. I think it's my favorite console design just aesthetically. And it's functional.

I cannot understand how the ps5 seriously got approved as it is. It runs multiple degrees cooler without the totally useless white side panels on. How does that make it to production? It's baffling

Screw the cooling, I want money.

Cause it looks like Seto Kaiba.

While my Sony consoles always ended up with issues until I dropped consoles entirely, I've never had issues with their TVs and I actually like their phones. Their game division is probably the worst-run, considering the whole thing is in Commiefornia, isn't it?

While i haven't heard anything bad about their TV's from people i know that own one, the last i heard their TV division is hurting bad ever since the gooks entered the market, offering comparable tech at an all-over cheaper price point. I think it is the Bravia line that got much lauded for its quality and still gets bought the most.

Yeah, now that CRTs are totally out of production, the best ones to ever be made turned out to be the Sony Trinitron line. I've only ever heard good things about Bravia HDTVs, too, but I've only known one person who owns one, because why drop a couple of grand on an HDTV when you can get some bullshit Vizio at the same size & resolution for like a quarter the price on sale?

(Trinitrons are the best CRTs that you could just buy at a store. Higher-grade screens for, like, surveillance systems are even more desired, but they're understandably very rare. CRTs made for arcade games tend to be of a higher grade, too)

The only reason I occasionally buy games for the PS5 is because I own a 4tb SSD I bought with it so have a lot of storage for it. But honestly, when I buy new games, I usually buy for PC. Either on GOG, Epic, Steam (a few weeks ago bought Doom Eternal and Persona 5 Royal). The only reason I'm not using my Series X is the lack of storage.

My personal experience was always that Sony TVs and phones are good, and will outlast most of the competition, but there's a certain premium price that puts their products at just too expensive to attract the frugal, and not expensive enough to be a status symbol.

As for their gaming division, it used to be the best run sub division. Their strategy from 2007 to 2014 might not have yielded big gains for the PS3, but it set them up for complete domination with the ps4. The problem is just how much the america brain rot of the least decade got its hands inside the company. And the move to california and closing of its Japanese development studios show just how much ideology currently drives PlayStation. There's way too many ideologues that jumped unto PlayStation just because they were the biggest around for nearly a decade.

Speaking of which:
Earlier this month, PlayStation revealed that The Last of Us Part 1 will release on PC on March 3rd, and when it does, users will spend a bit less to own the game than it currently costs on PlayStation 5. According to The Last of Us Part 1's listing on Steam, the title will be available for $59.99, which is $10 cheaper than it currently costs on the PlayStation Store. Sony-ponies just keep losing :lit:

I heard. I'm currently questioning whether I should buy for Steam directly or Epic. Normally I buy on Steam so I can play on the Steam Deck (ever since I got it) and Epic when I want to play on PC (though I do buy Steam versions as well eventually). I do own the game on PS5 (and the originals for PS3/4) as well. Something weird on Epic though was that I got Uncharted Legacy of Thieves Collection for it, but it doesn't show up as owned in the store page (that's happened for a few game purchases), but when I go to my library it's there. Very weird.

If you have a Steam account anyway, why would you want to buy from Epic instead? Epic is only for free games and exclusivity bullshit, nothing more.

His username is Master Xehanort. I think you just answered your own question.

The talk about GoW holding your hand to a ridiculous level reminds me that it's something fully in mind for Sony studios:

Found this when browsing through Spider-Man threads. Old news, I know, but... I just... I don't get it. I thought we defeated the "Making an experience everyone can enjoy" through difficulty modes. It's not about appealing to the "epic elitist" types, it's that people just want a fun experience where they feel like they're in control. People don't want to be patronized against and treated like fucking kids.

Especially stupid as you'd have to go back to before the Sam Raimi movie games to find hard Spidey games. DAMMIT INSOMNIAC, DAMMIT!

I think you just illustrated why @SSj_Ness can remember the PS buttons. The PS buttons actually have names (or to be more accurate theyre labeled twice). A circle and a triangle are going to be more recognizable than an x and a y.
From 6 o clock clockwise the SNES is BYXA, I remember that because it means pants in my language. Xbox is AXYB, I remember that because it's pants backwards. Playstation is cyan, magenta, green and red in that order, 50% CMYK, 50% RGB which is absurd enough that it can't be easily forgotten.
