I want to jump on this bandwagon, but yes. Very old American dish that's practically dead anywhere outside old folks or the mid-west. Had an older neighbor who'd eat it out of nostalgia. Don't have proof but it was when TV dinners were very popular and those where one of the options (pork as meal, apple sauce as dessert, etc).
