I joined SA because of excerpts from funny threads being posted on other forums. I'm not sure that the front page was much of a drawcard beyond the very early years.

Now you have endless megathreads that are never locked and cliques of thread regulars who hang out on them as well as in the many discords they've spawned. It's not very inviting and there's nothing about the place which would make me want to join today.

Anything that gave SA value (aka comedy, or original content) is fucking long gone.

Jeff's business plan is equivalent to going into the real world and saying "I'm going to open up a Blockbuster that only has VHS Tapes and Sega Genesis Games - I liked going there for VHS Tapes and Sega Genesis Games" not realizing the world has moved on.

someone in the thread suggesting ideas for jeffrey to recruit was just to email all of the inactive accounts and let them know about the »changes » in the site. that was the best idea in the thread. and can you imagine what that email would be like ? « you remember that humor site you used to read in 2006? well. we’re still around. and we got rid of lowtax. and the humor. we turned over a new leaf. if you ever say anything funny or display doubts in the official opinions list we receive you’re permabanned. the lax moderation of the past like during the icequeen gbs era which drove you guys away will never again my tolerated. if you believe that a woman is born a woman and a man is born a man… just gently caress off now, bigot… please come back. we even made another board for politics ! »

To be fair - Lowtax got rid of himself in every meaning of the word.

The only think Jeffrey could realistically do is try and explain some value that SA has that other sites don't - although I firmly believe it doesn't exist outside of nostalgia appeal to people already on it. But an effort to really try and sell people on "Here's what you get on SA that you don't get on Reddit/Facebook/Youtube/Twitch/Kiwi Farms/4chan/etc" would require SA having some kind of value to explain.

I don't think Jeffrey really cares, though. I think he paid $400,000 to slowly recoup it back through a low effort venture where he gets to pretend like he's an important person - just a sad/pathetic version of the guys who pay money in order to race on F1 teams, with his dream instead being "Webmaster of Something Awful". He gets to make "important posts", he can read all the hidden forums and private messages, he gets to hand pick all mods and admins - he's already getting what he wants out of SA.

It's just the internet version of "Dopey guy buys a resturant/other business in his home town because he spent a bunch of time there growing up".

I disagree alittle bit.

Lowtax/ZDR/FAU etc would never have done the QCS cunt thread 7 week probation. Also if you followed the CSPAM/GBS ukraine war thread drama. It was amazing because we have schrodinger chud/communist where russia is both anti america so its good but also putin is king chud!

Once the "facists of somethingawful" twitter was made jeff came in banned people and make some choices.

One weird is issue is that mods didnt want to give a post a free avatar change because "someone paid money to get a post and black sun avatar"

Unlike lowtax jeff isnt getting a 10K a month paterion ontop of the other review that comes from the website, and he s slowly shutting down the goon grift machine.

Jeff isnt lowtax and I wonder if he doesnt have a plan F where he might look to sell the forums to get some of his capital back, if he ends up with IRL reasons to do so.

To bring it back to the failed restraunt thing. Yeah the old dinner you d chill with your family growing up, but then all the regulars moved away or died, the owner was too busy fucking the waitresses and doing cocain deals in the back and then sells it to a rub before killing himself. Now your stuck with a dysfunctional staff and weirdo regulars who hate the place but hate change even more...all while trying to seal with having a day job but you cant even enjoy your day off for christmas because the line cooks are smoking meth and the hostess is telling the regulars not to scream cunt

Yeah - I didn't mean he's making the same decisions as Lowtax would - I simply mean he's making decisions on SA with the same authority (as the HNIC) as Lowtax had. He wanted (and bought) the same "You can't tell me shit on Something Awful I own the place" energy that Lowtax had so even if it dies tomorrow he got what he wanted from it.

It's mind-boggling to see troons complaining about normal people referring to themselves as "cis" when it was troons who first applied that label to people who aren't trans. They want to be the only ones who get to apply the label.

Reminds me of the whole Social Justice Warrior thing. Back in the day when Tumblr was remotely relevant, it was a title these dipshits gave to themselves. They were proud to be SJWs. Then when it turned around and became an insult, they pretending like those evil Nazis made up the term to mock them.
