Danny-boy also blames the federal government for the Fugitive Slave Law, not noticing that the very same people who called for secession got that law passed when they were still citizens of the USA. Such laws were passed because the government was trying to placate these slave-owning elites, but once Lincoln got voted in, (thanks to white citizens who don't want all the jobs in the west taken by slaves who don't earn a dime) they went full tard rage and left. He doesn't want to accept that the very same people who got the Fugitive Slave Law passed were the same "freedom-lovers" who led the secession movement, or that the first thing the South did with its Constitution, other than copy the North's, was to make a clause that forever guaranteed the existence of slavery. He also doesn't want to accept the fact that slavery WAS profitable enough that it produced such cheap cotton for European markets.
