Liverpool's full of people of Irish descent. Irish slang is more common there. Ferries would land there from Dublin, so it's a common city for the Irish to settle in. If Prior and Hayden are both from there, it makes sense both would use it.

I feel like everyone else started saying 'gobshite' after watching Father Ted. I try to avoid Liverpool and I've definitely heard people say it but I think it's just one of those words that's kinda fun to say every now and then. I wouldn't say it's common parlance though.
