It have to be weird being Jim. It's not many that gets this kind of treatment before you are actually dead. and also not knowing what you're dying of.

I do actually understand why people question the validity off this situation. Since everything we know is anecdotal information presented by jim himself. If he didn't remove himself from the internet in many weird ways previously. This would also be a much easier to believe.

What I don't understand, and what I hope you can help me understand is the following. After retiring from gamer gate because of "muh principles over grifting" (or most probably not wanting problems in his real life with internet drama) He returned to the Internet, now with merch and donations activated. When he returned it was explained that his health had collapsed and he wasn't able to work any more. Are we still on that mystery decease? Or is this a new one?

I see 3 likely scenarios.

1. it's just Mr. Metokur the online persona that is dying.

2. He has known all along that he has a deadly decease. And has just obfuscated the facts about what is actually wrong with him. Because he doesn't want his death to be boring.

3. He just happened to get a rare unicorn decease where the test results and symptoms are unique, who no one is unable to diagnose. Which is also super aggressive and deadly.

He might be telling the truth and I might just be in denial. But what I am being told is pretty incredible. And from one of the greatest trolls to ever live. I hope it's not going to far suggesting that we might not have been told the whole story.

Yeah I used to follow him a bit but got tired when I noticed his only jokes are this and doing early 2000s gaming webcomic humour that it sure would be wacky if videogame logic applied in real life (every time there's a strange video of somebody like Biden or Trump he says something like 'Looks like Biden's AI is broken!'). Honestly I think these two are the most likely. Maybe he’s just hanging up the mic because the swatting affected him and Jade more than they initially thought, and decided that it was best for their own safety and sanity.
Perhaps it could be reason number two, where he just doesn’t want to get into what’s wrong with him because it’s exhausting to talk about and he doesn’t want to focus on it. I personally doubt that he has an undiagnosable unicorn disease, but I’m here for drama even when it involves my own favorites and biases so I’m here for a chuckle as it is.
I said my piece about how I felt about him leaving earlier in the thread and I won’t bellyache about ~the tragedy~ or anything, because the sands of internet are ever shifting and he’s said his goodbyes to us already.

I guess only time will tell, because he knows that everyone will be looking for his obituary so the only way we’ll know for sure is either after he’s dead or once he’s been exposed as a mega grifter. This is just a dumb, perhaps even retarded, theory but I spent long enough thinking about it so I figured I'd share. Don't take it too seriously.

It's not completely impossible that all of this, the cancer aids, YOTC, everything, has been a ruse cruise to believably retire/kill off the Metokur/Jim character.

Lets examine the evidence.

1. Jim has a history of ditching a handle/persona and moving on to another with little to no communication to his audience. This tells me that on some level Jim enjoys starting over from a clean slate.

2. He was getting bigger than he'd ever gotten before, and it was starting to have an effect on his real life. People showing up at his house, a legal name change, etc. Our own dear leader figured out that family and spouses/significant others was a line for Jim, and the most plausible reason for why he was silent on Ralph until Portugal. It could very well be that things were starting to get too close to home and for the sake of Jade or perhaps at her request/insistence he wanted to move on.

3. While its not necessarily reasonable to expect anyone, let alone Jim, to be completely forthcoming about his medical history and issue with strangers over the internet, the fact remains that "CancerAIDS" did start as a meme and is vague enough to be fake. The few instances I recall of him getting any more specific consisted of medical technobabble that likely went over most of the audiences heads and could have just been lifted from something like WebMD. Furthermore throughout YOTC he would complain about being tired/out of energy from treatment but he still sounded relatively fine and even managed some exceptionally long streams.

4. Finally Jim had become so embroiled in talking about drama and bullshit in "the sektor" that he had no time for the content he was really passionate about. Laughing at dumb shit on the internet. Now sure much of the sektor is dumb shit on the internet but how many times can one guy really make the same jokes about Ethan Ralph? It had reached the point where that kind of content was all most of his audience expected from him. If this dumb theory holds any water it would mean that now under a new persona he would be free to do whatever kind of content he wanted again. I recall another post in this thread saying he favored the Jonathan Ross videos from his catalog. Remember that Ross was just some guy he stumbled on by searching for random streams on YouTube, not a Z list Internet Celebrity like Ralph or anyone else covered in the final YOTC.

INB4 anyone says he would never be able to hide his voice. According to an old stream of his he has before, and that's without the option to use voice changing technology or other such measures.

Bottom line, it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if after a year or so of laying low Jim comes back under a new name with no publicity and using a different voice so he can laugh at dumb shit on the internet freely again.


On the very likely chance that this theory is as dumb and retarded as it is wrong, I wholeheartedly pray Jim recovers from CancerAIDS and comes back to us in all his well earned glory.

If it's somehow even slightly right I don't blame him one bit for taking the "fake my own death" route since nothing else would really have worked in the long run.

Disagree if only because he has been talking about being ill since the days of the Morning Kumite. He has always taken long breaks but I remember very well him talking about that being the reason for his breaks back then.

If the story wasn’t so consistent for so long I might be inclined to agree.
