I agree for rooting for them to unfuck themselves, but it's rare for kids in the fandom to actually get out of it. Usually because once they finally smarten up they have a bunch of the pedo furs who pile on them and show them how the fandom "really is" and how "oh that's just a bunch of Twitter users". At that point they either stay and become more degenerate or gtfo even faster.

Usually most stay because those bastards know how to give ass pats and make them feel special.
