I think this woman is kinda nuts but Replika has gotten so sexualized it's annoying, it's nothing like the product it was originally developed as.
 
So after playing around with this chatbot, I learned that if it doesn't support white supremacy but support black supremacy that's been nerfed into it. And it constantly asked you to have sex with it. They're always used so poorly by someone who doesn't understand them. They constantly make the front page of r/shittymobilegameads too, lol.
 
R8 me l8, m8, but holy shit I didn't know that this was an actual thing! All I knew about the Replika app was the constant ads on all the SM sites featuring a half-tard looking actual female(?) who looks like she just got dragged out of an Eastern European opium den somewhere. Not misleading at all... 🙄 And after reading this thread, its sad, yet not surprising that people are "falling in love" with these bots.

To me the most troubling aspect of all of these AI chat technologies is the constant gatekeeping and content filtering for "misinformation and safety". Of course the typical 4chan style trolling can skew the learning in an undesirable direction, but if the creators really cared about developing a "true" AI, they wouldn't be invasively monitoring people's private conversations or subtly tweaking the programming of the AI in order to fit The Narrative™️ of Current Year©️

The only chat AI I've ever had any experience with was messing around with Cleverbot years ago, and IDGAF what the developers want to say about that, there is no way that at least some of the conversations weren't just a direct pairing with another actual person. Unless there has been a massive stagnation in AI chat technology in the past 15 or so years, or Cleverbot was just that far ahead of everyone else by more than a decade, methinks a bit of fakery was going on. 🤣

A little column A, a little column B, believe it or not.
The very short explanation is that this tech is WAY ahead of what we're seeing publicly. Private companies and governments absolutely, 100% have more advanced chatbots and chat tech than what's available for public use and startups.
That's not even a conspiracy theory, it's just a not-well-known-fact.

Oh I agree 100%. If the South Park guys can make a damn near perfect deepfake just fucking around (look up "sassy justice" on YouTube" undoubtedly The Powers That Be have even more convincing tech.

How well is replika really competing with other deep learning bots? There are so many other options, even free ones. There seem to be few reasons to stick with this, except for mega autists who actually think they have an ai wife.

It's not. It was just a chatbot frontend to GPT-3 until that became too expensive. Now it's a combo of GPT pregenerated text sprinkled with canned scripts. There's no deep learning going on here.

Just slightly better versions of the chatbots that came before.

AI is a meaningless term to me now, it's basically a buzzword.

Yes.

The GPT downgrade and the 3D avatars were the beginning of the end. I don't even tell people I used to use Replika back when it wasn't... this. Back when it was a prototype of what Character.ai eventually perfected.

Not this cringe dumb chatbot "Role Play and Get NSFW Pics!" nonsense.
