>tfw Jotaro sees an actual PS5 in the wind and it actually looks brand new and not look like it was stolen by a scalper

RE3 came out on the PS1 in October 1999 and Code Veronica came out on the Dreamcast in February 2000.
I was specifically speaking in terms of Final Fantasy. The games are usually way spaced out. Final Fantasy 10-2 came out two years after 10, Final Fantasy 12 came 3 years after 10-2. 11 was an MMO and that came out a year after 10.

7 Remake came out in 2020, the DLC was a year later, and now you have 16 and 7 Rebirth coming out within the same year. They're saying that Dirge of Cerberus isn't happening but considering how they made the Yuffie DLC, it's more than likely they're going to take the story beats and just turn it into an RPG campaign. It won't be a 1:1 remake like Crisis Core but they did not remove anything from the CC Remake either which directly leads into DoC.

FF1: '87
FF2: '88

FF3: '90
FF4: '91
FF5: '92

5 in 6 years is "usually way spaced out"? After that there was a litte slow down:

FF6: '94
FF7: '97

So there was their first multi year space between entries, basically because FF7 was their jump to 3D. Then back to cranking them out faster than ever:

FF8: '99
FF9: '00
FF10: '01
FF11: '02

After that they slowed down considerably but there was still one back-to-back release with FF13 & FF14. None of this is even counting the spin-offs and sequels you were mentioning, just numbered entries.

Tldr; no you retard

16 looks to be in much better shape than 15 was prior to release. The major complaint for 16 so far is stuff relating to aesthetics, because even the battle system to 16 is better than 15's.
16 doesn't look like anything because they've shown hardly anything. You cant say the gameplay is any better because they have absolutely refused to show an actual slice of gameplay.

Who even gives a fuck about the modern, non-MMO FF's anymore? FFXIII was the death knell for the series, XV and especially FF7R cemented the fact that modern Square, or better Square Enix, can't make a good FF even if their lives would depend on it.

I know the games still sell and the revenue from FFXIV subscriptions practically funds their whole business operation but from a sheer gameplay- and story perspective the modern FF titles are nowhere even near their glory days. The modern titles all look very pretty but, at the risk of sounding like a retarded /v/irgin, they have a distinct lack of SOUL. Hell, FFXII was borderline already but still had enough of what made FF FF, after that they shouldn't even have bothered with naming the games Final Fantasy anymore. FFXIII is probably my biggest disappointment in gaming, next to Diablo 3.

I don't know exactly what happened after the merger but that's when Squaresoft's creative genius started to wither, little by little, game by game but especially noticeable in the FF franchise.

Also 9>7 and 5>6, FFT GOTYAY.

Monolith Soft took a bunch of talented devs with them after Square almost bankrupt the company with their shitty Final Fantasy movie. Now Nintendo ironically has a better RPG franchise than Square does
