In the livestream, he said people were "threatening" Zack with it. Then Kelsey says words to the effect about FROG relating a story to him years ago about Zack being blackmailed. That occurs at 17:54 in the stream.

So, to my ears, it sounds like two different stories. The one he related in his livestream, and the one in this thread. One where Zack is being blackmailed, and one where Zack was merely scared about aggroing those who may have known.

I hadn't seen that bit of the live stream so I want to break it down a little.

Who among CGs legion of haters and detractors have fucked with Ethan but are also people Zack would think were friends?
Who would he fear/respect enough to not want to "get on their bad side"?
Who is capable of threatening gayops on Zack that he would take seriously enough to tone down his rhetoric, delete tons of content, and leave Twitter?

I think we can rule out any SJWs or aligned comics pros. Zack already pissed them off years ago and I doubt he cares what they think enough to change his behavior even a little.

There's a plausible deniability built into the whole story. Our coomer friend with the new account has already said it: How can someone be blackmailed by a video that's already online? Seems like it's probably pretty difficult.

Ethan has already made it clear that "lots of people" knew about it but only a few "had it". Finding one porn video among billions across the internet is difficult enough, but probably even more so when the video is ten years old and you're looking for an uncredited extra in the background. Unless you knew exactly what you were searching for, it must be like trying to find a specific grain of sand. Keeping a link or even a copy of the video among a couple of people with common enemies and common goals who trust each other not to squeal probably isn't too great of a task. Ernst and Lim trust each other. Lim has covered Ernst's ass before (remember his damage control stream after the Hut thing came out?). A couple of people knowing is way more secure than a whole group of people knowing, which is another reason the SJ dubs, WC, or any group of more than 2-3 people can be ruled out.

So it's probably not blackmail since the stuff is on the internet and not locked away where nobody could see it. But there was a degree of difficulty in finding it that would preclude some random person who happens to know who Richard C Meyer is and what he looks like from just stumbling on this thing out of the blue.

And as EVS said, they didn't have list of demands or specific things they wanted Zack to do, they just basically pulled a Dark Brotherhood on him and let him know they know. Zack got the message and tailored his behavior accordingly, which explains some of the bitch moves he's been making the last few years.

The only thing Doug could have gotten out of it is the satisfaction of poking Zack with a stick, watching him squirm and knowing he could do so at any moment. Just like the only thing he got out of the Hut situation was the satisfaction of his anti-Frog insults and diatribes getting out there without having to vomit them up himself. Like you said, he's a petty bitch and he's got a huge axe to grind with Ethan. Fucking with Zack is probably less about personal animosity towards Zack than it is about having the opportunity to shit on someone he considers (rightly or wrongly) a player in the EVS wing of CG.

Yes but that all started when Meyer made a bunch of community posts and videos some time last year calling out Ernst for the heinous practice of having the comic already in the can before launching the crowdfund, as that amounted to "taking the fun out of crowdfunding". In response to this, Ernst dispensed with the dubious gayop proxy services of Comic Book Hut and proceeded to go American History Doug on Simple Zack in a now-deleted livestream. None of that really suggests Ernst held pre-existing life destroying power over Meyer, because if he did why the fuck would Meyer antagonize him? Then again there's no accounting for stupidity. The prevailing theory regarding Meyer's passivity on Ernst is his misplaced hope that Iconic Comics would take over publishing and fulfillment over the inept and crooked "secret fulfillment company" based in New Jersey that continues to assfuck him over surcharges to this day.

One theory by posters here that I thought was quite reasonable, that the information was turned up by private investigators hired by Waid for the defamation lawsuit, is eliminated by Frog's description of events. It was Zack who told the culprit responsible.

There's still the possibility that this was one of Meyer's "inside sources with Marvel and DC" whom he naiively thought the flow of information was a one-way street. Or maybe it was Nasser. We all know what he's like with DMs. Well-meaning sex advice from Richard turned and used against him.
