King of the hill appreciation thread - Yup.

It really seems like the writers never knew what to do with Luanne. Like they set up in the first episode that she's an expert mechanic and then they never did anything with that again. Then they had an "angel" from heaven command her from Jesus Himself to go to college... and then that went nowhere. And then getting mixed up with a loser redneck stereotype like Lucky, becoming trailer trash exactly how her detractors said she would end up.
I liked when she was just a barber. It felt like a reasonable conclusion to her career story, she was a horrible stylist but she could figure out how to cut a man's hair straight and the men of Arlen would be happy to over tip of a southern bimbo.

I would have liked Lucky a lot more if his design was less totally white trash and they didn't overindulged by shoehorning Tom Petty into basically every other episode of the final seasons.

I really felt like King of the Hill did so much to combat stereotypes of Texas and southerners in general. These characters were real people. So I was not a fan of those redneck stereotype characters they introduced late in the series, Lucky being the most prominent. It seemed like a huge step down. I get that Tom Petty was a huge celebrity, but Lucky was overexposed. He was funny in small doses only.

I agree with the first half of your comment. But I thought Lucky was fine. It was -however- a missed opportunity to not have Lucky interact with Kahn more. It should have been like: Kahn thinks Hank and co. are rednecks but no, here's a REAL redneck that he has to deal with. That could have lead to some great shenanigans.

Kahn snapping and going full redneck is one of the greatest episodes of the series.

I grew up white trash. I can assure you people almost exactly like Lucky exist irl.

The Khan going redneck episode got a few laughs out of me, but I’m with @BrunoMattei on feeling it was just way too out of character for him and Minh.

If we’re talking about all time greatest KOTH episodes, my vote goes to Nine Pretty Darn Angry Men.

A Rover Runs Through It - Good to know that rich Californians coming to other states, buying up lands and completely fucking up the livelihoods of the original citizens didn't happen after 2004.

I always see people online complaining how KOTH got the axe just so that The Cleveland Show could get some airtime spots during the day. And while yeah, it was dumb to have a Family Guy spinoff in the first place, 13 seasons is absolutely not a number to scoff at. And to have most of those seasons and episodes to be of actual quality is a rarity nowadays. The show could not have ended any better or later at that point.

I think my favorite episode is A Beer Can Named Desire. Dandy Bobby cracks me up.
That boy ain't right.
Hank getting so disgusted by Bobby that he throws the robe and his regular pajamas off the balcony ends me every time.

The first time I saw it, I thought he was imagining throwing Bobby out.

All he had to do was keep his comments to himself and stop talking and flouncing around like a damn ponce. Though frankly I'm glad hank put his foot down and stopped it before it got out of control.
