I'm wondering after 'Ray of Light' if she didn't end up having a midlife crisis. That's the only thing I can come up with her going from looking like she started aging gracefully and giving off an almost 'regal' look, to a 60-some year old trying desperately to look 20 again like she thinks she can somehow stave off Father Time and the Grim Reaper.

The timing is a bit off....

Most Madonna fans pinpoint Madonna's mid-life crisis starting in 1999; after mellowing out, having a kid, and getting into Kabbalah and settling down, she got picked to do the theme song for Austin Powers 2. The film had a time travel plot and for the song (Beautiful Stranger), Madonna wanted the video to be Michael Meyers, as Austin Powers, chasing her character (a spy) through different time periods that would let Madonna revisit/dress up in her past personas/outfits and reenact bits from her previous videos but with Meyers involved.

The director for the video was Brett Ratner, who was coming off of the HUGE success of Rush Hour and had been headhunted to direct the video by the studio putting out AP2, since the Madonna song was also the lead single for the soundtrack album for AP2. Ratner shot this idea of Madonna's down and shot it down HARD. As in Ratner having the HUGE balls to say Madonna was "too old to dress up like she did in her past videos". Madonna objected HARD but Ratner got his way; the only concession was that Ratner was told to make Madonna look like a sex symbol in the video to appease her after he pissed her off telling her off like that about being "too old".

Madonna never forgave Ratner or forgot what he told her; causing her to backslide like she did regarding her new "mature" direction and why she went back to a more sexy/sex kitten persona for Music and her other works going forward.

She chartered a light aircraft to "Lolldaiga".
That's not a region of Kenya, or a town - it's Lolldaiga House in the Laikipia hills (the 50,000 acre private reserve has been branded "Lolldaiga Hills"). Cost upon asking, but according to The Ultimate Travel Company it comes with a well stocked private library, "well trained, unobtrusive" staff, a personal chef who'll cook you breakfast in a little camp they set up on a kopje, game drives, a helicopter and an infinity pool. I don't imagine it's cheap.

Also it's still owned by the grandson of the colonialist who took the land, there's been violent clashes with the dispossessed nomadic pastoralists (think like Masai Mara) and the UK's Ministry of Defence pays "commercially sensitive" amounts of money to train troops on the land. Maaaaadge, that's not very "helping my stolen African children connect with their roots" of you.

Anyway, it gets cold up in the high plateaus of Kenya so Madge wrapped up nice and warm in a coat. Not just any coat, though.

See that logo? It's Moncler. Specifically the 2020 Moncler x Rick Owens collab.

Couldn't find the gilet in black (sold out everywhere) but the silver one costs $3600.

Amusingly that hat she's wearing appears on a bunch of Chinese wholesaler sites and also Shein, so I reckon she bought it from a shop in Malawai or Kenya and thinks she found some cool local craft work.

That actually sounds kind of cute – I wouldn't mind seeing the alternate timeline version, especially since the actual video was pretty meh. Mostly just generic dancing-in-90s-club shots.

I know one has biological family, when Mercy was a baby her father (Mother died, father hadn't met his daughter, there's also extended family) wanted custody of their child because they didn't think Madonna was fit to raise children.
"I hear one of them is even less than half her age. That's scandalous. How can a normal woman fall for a boy who can as well be her son? No, spare my Mercy that scandal."
Courts denied her adoption request but Madonna fought for adoption and eventually got it because money. You're not even meant to be able to adopt from Malawi without living there for at least a year but again, money
