Given this, the Switch is now the third most successful games console of all time in terms of sales.

If you want to play multiplat games then no, if you want to play the switch as a side console for smaller titles or rpgs or something then yes.
I always suggest tl pair the switch with a pc.
Yeah I mainly play on PC but there is a handful of Switch games that I'd like to play.

Is it worth getting a Switch now?
If you're into japanese (including, but not just restricted to, Nintendo) and indie vidya, then it's a definite yes. Bonus points if you seek couch multiplayer with friends & family.
I partially disagree with @Becomemysoulreaver12 (on not using it for eventual multiplats/ports) however as the Switch is my main gaming system for like 2 years now, and completely replaced my desktop PC for that task.

I mean, it depends on the title, since the psp I like playing jrpgs on portable consoles, so I usually try to buy the switch version, but if platformers or shooters are released on pc and the switch port is half the framerate I rather not get the switch version.

The biggest joke to be had about Inazuma Eleven games is that they are the only games/series in the last 16 years that manage to do Pokemon better than Pokemon.

Think about it: instead of catching monsters, you catch middle schoolers
Think about it: instead of catching monsters, you catch little boys
You catch little boys
Little boys
That explains all the lonely fujoshits in the fandom.

Imagine paying eight dollars for Galaga.

Does anyone else think the Arcade Archives line is insultingly overpriced? People complained for years about NES Virtual Console games costing too much at $5 each only for Nintendo to respond by ramping them up to $8 for their slightly different arcade ports. Then you’re expected to pay $8 for some of the most basic and frequently-ported games of all time like Pac-Man and Galaga, made even worse by the fact that the Switch already has a Namco Museum that includes these games.

At least there are some much larger SNK games and popular arcade games that never got home console ports like Tetris: The Grand Master, but most of these are borderline scams.
No, VC was a shameless-bordering-on-sociopathic scam whereas AA is one of the handful of reasons I bothered getting a modern console. Accurate, low-lag arcade emulation with decent display options is a surprisingly rare commodity and requires more effort from devs than selling 300 NES roms that all run in the same emulator. Many (maybe most) arcade ports on Switch are quite poorly done and plenty of those cost $8 or more. AA games lack bells and whistles but you can set you can set your watch by them. I'd rather compromise on price than quality.

Even for something ported to death like Galaga it's probably going to be the most autistically accurate version commercially available. If it's $8, it's $8. Any poorfag who doesn't like it can download Fortnite and eat a can of spam. It's not like they're going to pull Namco Museum from the market and "make" anyone buy the AA version, so if you don't care it doesn't affect you in any way.

Even allowing that eight zogbux is pretty steep for a 40+ year old game you already own a dozen times and can easily run on a potato, Galaga/Pac-Man still probably sell better than anything else in the line other than Mario and Metal Slug, so whatever, not even mad, it's covering the costs of all the weird obscure stuff that doesn't sell that well, has never been ported to anything, and the ones that required more work on Hamster's part to emulate accurately.

Sometimes I am overcome and tears well up in my eyes when I think of all the hours of joy that Arcade Archives has brought me and I wish there was some way for me to give them more money for the saintly and historically important work they do. However, I am sure they would refuse my offer, because they strive to selflessly serve the gaming community as a whole, not to earn riches for themselves.

You had me fooled right up until the end, good job

It also depends how much someone values the form factor of a handheld and how convenient it is for one's personal lifestyle. Like it's super handy (no pun intended) for me to be able to play games whenever/wherever I want without worrying about save checkpoints either, and resuming a session exactly where it was paused even a day or two later. It gets harder and harder for me to secure long vidya sessions on PC by comparison, due of life obligations, so I'm willing to look past things like the lower framerate (which is more or less expected on this form factor anyway). I won't deny PC+Switch combo remains the most optimal experience otherwise.

Besides a few rough ports (like SS3 from the Serious Sam Collection), a large amount of Switch ports I've liked have been fairly decent or great: Xmorph Defense, Nier Automata, Samurai Maiden, Atelier Sophie 2, Hades, Resident Evil 5, Portal 1+2, Tetris Effect, Densha de Go!, EDF 4.1, etc. Nowhere the downgrades that were more prominent and frequent on the PSVita.

Many people want e.g. Mother 3 on Switch. Not me. I want Crazy Climber (1980) and Frogger (1981) on Switch.

Why do people still think Nintendo will ever change its mind on a game where a little boy gets sodomized by a tranny in a hot spring? Even if that scene didn't take place or the trannies didn't exist, the game is still commie propaganda.

Care to explain for the rest of us that's never played it before?
The game starts in a utopian village where people freely share their food, medicine, and anything they don't need. This village gets invaded by people from modern America (sort of), who burn the nearby forest, modify the animals, and introduce money and "happy boxes" (that look like TVs or computer monitors) into the village. Over the course of the game, most of the locals are corrupted by the invaders.

There's a lot more to it than that, but it does have some anti-capitalist themes.

Although this is not about the Nintendo Switch, Steam Summer Sales (and the Winter ones) cause people to go full-on CONSOOME mode and mass buy games, even if they don't play them.
Yeah I'm guilty about this on my steam account, though the Steam Deck is helping with my backlog. Back to the Switch though, a lot of shovelware games do run steep discounts and it annoys me greatly to see them all, but since there's no user reviews on the Nintendo storefront I have to go out of my way to find out which game is ass or is a hidden gem.
