Curious.

I don't get it. Shouldn't every Runescape player by default be limited to the asexual crown
This is too much...

OSRS players would have loved this if it were a rare boss drop instead of just an event gift. Jagex needs to learn their audience's autism.

Well it's a good thing I've barely played this year. Completely missed that faggot shit. Joys of Fagsex being a Bri'ish company.

Been playing F2P the last few weeks because if I member up, I'll definitely get fucking addicted again until I max...

And then I see today that they are polling for interest in a new skill. It's 78% for yes as of writing, so they're definitely entering planing phase once this poll is over. Don't get me wrong, it's definitely time for a new skill, but when I'm halfway to max (roughly 160m XP, 2003 TL), it sure as hell stings knowing I got to add another 13m exp and 98 levels on to that eventually.

Oh well, at least maxing is far more reasonable than it used to be, just fucking takes forever.

I kind of want to play this again. It’s been so long but RuneScape is always going to hold a special place in my heart.
I just started playing again myself today, I always find myself binging the fuck out of the game for a couple months before getting burnt out for a year or so, before the cycle restarts, crazy to think I've been doing this since 2006.

One thing I have noticed is bond prices went way the fuck up, I had to buy one for 7M, weren't they like 2 something mil a couple years ago? Worth it anyways, been fun working on banging out the last couple levels for 99 Thieving.

Lol that's exactly the same cycle I keep going through as well since mobile launched. 50m exp is usually where I hit my limit and burn out hard for a year.

Bonds have gone up a bit recently, but for the past 2 years they've stayed in the 5.9M-7M range. I think the cheapest I've ever seen em at was 3M-4M when I started playing again like 5 years ago.

This comment convinced me to download the Oldschool RuneScape app yesterday. So glad I did.

I just buy the 1 year of membership, it’s probably on sale now and it’s way cheaper. Then I don’t worry if I don’t play for a month or two.

Honestly I would love to just max an account just to say I have after all these years of playing, which is what I'm slowly working on with my main that I've had since OSRS launched back in 2013. After 99 Thieving and maybe another I would love to do 99 Runecraft but fuck me that's like 400 hours, I wish I had the same dedication/autism as some Runescape YouTubers with their series', like Settled and his Morytania UIM account or his new Tileman mode series (all great videos to watch).

I just did the Christmas event. The snowball fight minigame was pretty fun and I like the festive event items a lot, especially the Santa’s List cape.

A few days ago, they announced that they will implement a new skill. They have not said what it will be - that will be decided with future polls. The overwhelming amount of zoomers who work at Jagex and play the game have been wanting one for quite some time now. I understand that it is ultimately a business decision, but it is kinda sad to see the game change so much over time.

The poll passed with 80.9% of people voting yes. Twitter post (archive)

Hypothetically, Kiwi private server when?

Went on a nostalgia trip listening to old Runescape music, I'd be lying if I said it doesn't make me emotional.

Had to look up the composer Ian Taylor to see what he's done si-

Fucking hell.

Ditto. For me it always follows a pattern. I'll get mems and identify some goals i want to reach, full of optimism and excitement to play again. A couple of months will pass and I'll realise just how much time I've wasted. I think about the social element and how fun it was chatting to people and discovering new things in game, except I know about everything now and nobody bothers socialising any more. I'll then bum around f2p worlds entertaining newbies and showing them things for like a week before fucking off from playing again. Listening to yhe old music is making me think of repeating the cycle all over again because I never learn.

God help me, I started a fresh character. It does make for something to do while I watch or listen to the pile of things I've been meaning to, at least. I've decided to stick around in F2P until I've done all the quests and gotten my skills to reasonable milestones before moving on to the member's content. Stuff like 55 magic for high alchemy, 60 mining, etc. It's been very nostalgic so far, but I have yet to see what all has changed since my childhood.

Really, it was the introduction of the GE that marked the end of an era. Removing much of the social aspect of trading radically altered the experience and made the game increasingly about optimizing for experience or cash flow.

You can clear out F2P content in less than a week as long as you know what you're doing, and a lot of skills tend to be easier to train with Member's content. Same thing with moneymaking so you can afford Bonds for membership.

Granted, that doesn't mean you should try to get membership ASAP. You should definitely clear out all your F2P quest first. Gives you a very good leg up when starting Member stuff.

Speaking of jumping to member straight away, there is Waterfall Quest. You can do it pretty easily on a brand-new character (just have to avoid getting one-shot when running past enemies) and it'll instantly give you enough XP to give you 30 Attack and 30 Strength, so you can skip some of the early grind. Personally, if you're going back to the game for nostalgia, though, I still think hanging around in F2P and doing stuff like Ernest the Chicken and Imp Catcher is more in that spirit. When I went back a while ago, the only real complaint I had about F2P was just how many bots there were. It made early game mining and such a real pain, since they're always swarming over the mines around Varrock and Lumbridge.
