Anime News Network (ANN), Christopher Macdonald & Co. - "Unbiased" Reporting on All Things Anime Related By Snobbish Quebec-Based Web Company. Acquired by Kadokawa.

*looks at what is going on*

*California has severe flooding, Hazukari has trooned out, ANN is acting like nothing has happened and is still saying shit they aren't noticing probably because of Total Retard War*

Me:

Carry on Ladies and Gentlemen.

They're going to bully Hazukari to become an hero and pretend they don't have blood on their hands.

You know, it's one thing that I dance on Zac's grave. It's another when you cause someone to commit suicide intentionally.

Oh, and Lynzee: you want him to see justice? You should had called the cops when you had the chance. Don't say I didn't warn you.

You know ANN's preview guide has a homogeneity problem with its writers, when one of their staffers who doesn't write for it has to step in on the forums with a different take literally saying "in case any of you were interested in seeing a different take from the other reviewers this time around".

The Mushoku Tensei comparison for the animation studio Egg Firm is a weak one. Both Mushoku and Onimai had original source material before either one got an anime adaptation. They forget that the main character was an anti-social, creepy recluse due to the insane amount of bullying he received and is learning to better himself while not falling back to his old ways. I also love how Kim has to namedrop Precure, as if that will make the gender bending anime any better while pushing the stupid trans allegory that some are intent on using. Isn't Glitter Force a 4Kids Entertainment-ish retelling of Precure? I know the original Pretty Cure series is on Tubi.

All of this is just the result of her focusing more on animation than she should. Considering Canipa is her husband after all, shouldn't be a surprise.
Reminds me of how I've seen a couple of people refer to Studio Bind as "the next Doga Kobo" over this. Because Doga Kobo has been pegged as the bad creepy lolicon studio by this crowd over Wataten and Uzamaid, despite those just being two out of the many shows they've produced.

It is, a failed dub from Saban that they only did because Toei made them pick up PreCure in order to get Digimon Xros Wars which is what they really wanted. CR also has the first PreCure series, and has been simulcasting PreCure for the past couple years. The recent simulcasted series's first episodes got positive reviews on ANN and AniFem, while Rebecca is ANN's resident PreCure fan who's writing most of the PreCure coverage that isn't the preview guide.

Yeah, that's not true. While licensors have done bulk license deals, Toei has never and will never do that with One Piece.
4KIDS had gotten Magical DoReMi around the same time as One Piece, which is why people think it's a package deal, especially since Toei was shopping its auction around. Perhaps 4KIDS was thinking they were on a chummy-chum-chum level with Toei over Ultimate Muscle and thought they could potentially get another hit with One Piece, only to realize pretty quickly they made a mistake. Must've not have realized the number of guns and violence compared to Ultimate Muscle and Yu-Gi-Oh.

Honestly, that may explain why they commissioned an extra 26 episodes of Ultimate Muscle. It was a way to get back on their good side.

And considering their fate, I’m guessing it didn’t work. And they’re seen as likeable compared to ANN nowadays.

Moving on from 4Kids autism, I rediscovered this while looking thru my receipts, so I thought I'd look at Chiaki's old ANN forum posts for the hell of it.

It looks like years before becoming known as AniFem's Japanese-American furry troon, the Chiaki of 2008 was rather anti-censorship and against politicized news. Big Yikes!

By the way, logging back into a random forum account you hadn't used in TWELVE YEARS just so you can bring up your Fax™ about Japan's police in response to a peasant defending the police animu is still the most 🧩 as f**k thing I've ever seen.

And considering their fate, I’m guessing it didn’t work.
It might've worked, somewhat, considering they did originally get the rights to Pretty Cure just to not use it (think there was a TV deal problem), and also had gotten Tai Chi Chasers and broadcast rights to Dragon Ball Kai, but in 2006 they had lost the rights to Pokémon and had to fall back on their other golden geese, Yu-Gi-Oh. That was probably also when they began withholding payments to Konami.

4KIDS was a screw-up in its later years, but I believe a lot of people working for them truly did love anime, or at least loved TV and knew where the winds were blowing. Sevakis has a lot of animosity towards his old job at Central Park Media whom shared the same ballpark with 4KIDS, so he may have hated them by proxy on top of the broadcast censorships. Could've been the only time he was in singularity with the anime fandom at the time 'cause everyone hated 4KIDS.

Found out about this old tweet, and LMAO!

Random irrelevant factoid about Caitlin I had meant to post when it first came out but never got to: she in fact is a former child actress who played Baby M in the ABC miniseries based on that case and Samantha in the soap Santa Barbara, both roles shared with her twin sister Erin. That isn't some unrelated rando who happens to be named Caitlin Moore, she has literally tweeted about it before:

Interview with Erin. How is her relationship with Caitlin you ask? According to some of Caitlin's tweets, Erin was condescending and cutting to her but was the dad's favored sibling for pursuing theatre and reading classic literature in contrast to Caitlin who had gotten into anime which dad hated and preferred reading books like Tamora Pierce.

Nothing to say about the review itself, but of course Nick would use a Nagatoro foot shot as his choice of image for it. lmao

This explains so much about this bitch then!
She's a washed up never was, daddy never loved me more than sissy, attention whore bitch, who thinks by using faux outrage in teh cool kids animu circles is somehow going to jettison her into that sweet, sweet, D tier celeb status.
Can say, she might be an even bigger loser than Lynzee?
I mean Lynzee is very obiviously a femcel loser power tripping over a washed up news site that's seen better days.
Caitlin though?
Is trying to use said loser bitch to regain a stardom she never even had.
This is my new theory about her and I'm gonna stick with it til proven different.

Nope. One Piece was given a big push in their press release of the 2004 TV broadcast season.

DoReMi is noticeably absent and wouldn't begin broadcast till 2005.

4Kids commissioned more Ultimate Muscle because was way more popular in the US than Japan. It's why Kinnikuman proper runs to this day in manga form but has nothing to do with his kid.

This is unironcally one of the only good uses of ANN: archiving all this old press about chinese cartoons.

I feel the same way. About as much as I'm not keen on overt censorship and that past age eight kids should be allowed more mature stuff as appropriate to that age, 4KIDS was essential to get the ratings in and be the shallows before the depths. Not everyone would get the Japanese things, which is totally fine to dub over, and not every kid out west needs to be spooked the shit out of or be exposed to adult shit at a young age (let them have their childhood for fuck's sake). If they're that interested in the original material, they can look it up later and have fun sperging about it like the rest of us fans. They did screw up One Piece, but that's the only strike I'll give them. Plus, in my experience, you can't fuck up worse than Viz and Megaman NT Warrior. That shit was fucking balls in terms of censorship and piss ass dubbing.

Fuck Sevakis. I know his kind. We all know what his fucking shtick is, as with every other faggot at ANN. "I WANT GOOD ANIME TO BE DUBBED SO I CAN GO DOWN IN HISTORY WAHHHH" You bitch ass little limp placcid banana excuse of a hapa, you got a job involved with anime importing and localization, and all you can do is bitch and moan and whine? That's what I fucking hate about you snooty spoiled scumfuckers, you just want your shitty little fake ass insular otaku fuckhead world to dwell in just to feel special, and it's worse because you're not even fucking enjoying it without fucking over anyone else. Anime has its own ups and downs and pluses and cons and imperfections, and you call yourselves fans? You have no love for anime, only for what it can do for you. CPM pushed out all of the OAVs, all of the dream like obscured shit that the States' animation industry fucking would give all of its fucking limbs for its creative boundaries and freedoms, and you're worried about what they think about in Japan or your circle of self absorbed deluded snobbery ridden asshuffers? Fuck you. Even CPM never neutered their shit and even spiced shit up, unlike you, you troonout disaster in the making. Go and carve out your groin and shove the world's largest spiked dildo up it you fucking fuck up.
