I don't mean to tread into political territory, but the whole free speech thing is something that I was freaking out about while reading this thread and was surprised nobody talked about. The 1st amendment is not a golden law that protects you from others. It protects you from the government coming after you for saying things.

That being said yes you can say whatever you want, it doesn't mean you can force others to shut up especially at their own event. It also isn't a magic shield that somehow deflects all accountability. Like you say some stupid shit, you're gonna have to deal with the repercussions. Free speech does not mean free from criticism. Sommers is a highly respected academic and published author. Crowder is an asshole but to argue both sides are equal is dumb. The sjws really came out on the losing side here, and now their ridiculous behavior is on display for the whole world to see.

Here, she was even demoting herself to the position of "babysitter" for the others (which indicates something about how she herself sees them). She's pretty well known for anecdotal and poorly supported factual arguments in her published works. Being published does not confer the kind of immediate prestige it once did because the publishers aren't exactly gatekeepers of quality and merit.

Do you realise I'm not actually disagreeing with you on that? I think her spastic tantrum was hilarious.
