Microsoft is fucking butthurt no one wants Windows 11 so they're stopping the sale of Windows 10 licenses this month

It's the Windows way, every second OS release is garbage and reviled by most:
98, great; 2000/Me, hated and notoriously buggy.
XP is still used in a lot of PCs today; Vista was so bad even garbage TV shows like The Big Bang Theory made fun of it.
Windows 7 is the greatest OS ever made, then 8 is the same but worse with an awful, AWFUL tablet UI shoehorned in.
10 is just 7 again, 11 is another ugly redesign no-one asked for ala 8 with stupidly high requirements ala Vista.

Basically wait til Windows 12.
A more accurate timeline would be:
95 - Good
98 - Slightly shit (see http://toastytech.com/guis/win98.html)
98 SE - Good
ME - Shit
2000 - Good
XP - Good
Vista - Shit
7 - Good
8 - Shit
8.1 - Slightly less shit
10 - Ok
11 - Shit
12 - ???

Every new OS by Microsoft after XP is fucking garbage. I swear these new OS's feels less stable and user friendly with each iteration, on top of being bloated with a bunch of shit I'll never use.

Before my main laptop died, it was trying to force me to upgrade to 11 as well. Luckily my shitty Windows 7 laptop is so outdated, they can't harass me there. This thing would fucking explode if I installed anything else anyway.

I have windows 11 bc my new pc apparently HAD to have it and I'm not sold on Linux yet. Its meh once you get used to it, put when it comes to manipulation or programming, I have no clue. It could be UTTER dogshit on that front.

I hate how since Windows 8 dropped it became standard practice for us users to drag our feet and stay on older OSes by any means necessary, only moving on when there are absolutely no more drivers available.
10 is just 7 again
I remember how, when 10 was still pretty new, I've been playing around with it on a test laptop, for the time when I eventually would be forced to migrate. By putting the LTSC build onto it (no feature updates, Cortana, MS Store or any of that crap), then using Open Shell to replace the Start Menu, ShutUp10 to remove most of the spyware, Winaero Tweaker to restore some old functionality, installing classic Task Manager and Msconfig, using Ribbon Disabler to remove the ribbon from Windows Explorer, Windows Update MiniTool to gain control over the updates and pirated WindowBlinds and 7TSP to be able to rice it however I want (no matter what I do I just can't get behind the flatshit design), once I was finished, it was just about usable.
It's a pity that you need to fuck around this much to get Windows 10 into a usable state (and using a pirated build due to MS not selling LTSC to us mortals), whereas Windows 7 manages all of the above straight out of the box, but what can you do. I dread having to do all that shit again when 11 would get forced on us.
At least LTSC 1809 EOLs at 2029, so there is some hope there would be the right tools available by that point.

Been with Windows since 2.0 - it was a lazy compromise over 4DOS. Forcing people from 7 (no telemetry) to 10 (telemetry) was enough to make me stop upgrading at 7. Eventually had to run a new box using 10 because hardware is all USB 3.0. No way to harden it against the publisher. Pushing everyone to 11 (subscription model mediated by publisher) is a bridge too far. I'm on the path to an all Linux shop now. They're called "personal computers" because they don't have some corporation's dick in your ass all day long. Get with the program, Microsoft.

I'm an IT Janny so I have to switch over 1300+ laptops to this garbage.

I fucking hate my life.

Kill me.
Fuck me, I practically had to bribe the IT guy at work to downgrade me to 10. Monday is going to fucking suck.
How were they capable of looking at Apple's dock system and making it manifestly worse?

Enterprise contract :smug:
We're moving to it anyway. (:_( I can't wait for end users to call me up about the smudgy little icons in the new right click menu.
I *absolutely* can't wait to see it's effect on all our shitty ActiveX web applications.

I pray linux devs get their shit together by 2025.
Lmao. Guess where pottering works now?
Microsoft <3 Linux, exclusively when it's a server OS or a Unix subsystem in a Windows install. IBM (who own RedHat who own Gnome) are more than happy to play along with this.
I've never seen M$ retrocatively remove features from a product to move everyone over to the half-baked new "solution". Wayland developers are more than happy to break things in X for "security purposes" and don't even get me started on Gnome.
We're in this confusing situation where the best way to target Linux is to just make a Windows application and rely on Wine because it has a stable ABI that doesn't constantly fucking break.

My beef with Linux is that everyone says that Windows is bloated and runs like shit because of it, but when using Linux on a desktop that's supposed to be 'modern' (KDE/Cinammon) it feels just as bloated, slow, . Blame me for having an Nvidia GPU but I just want something that doesn't feel like it's either held by glue and piss or hasn't had an update in 20 years.

All of our non Mac machines are on windows 10 still. Not sure when we're gonna switch to 11. Had to install it on a machine over some web camera bullshit to make sure it wasn't dead. It asks you like 20 questions before you even hit the desktop for the first time. Including trying to get you to sign up for Office 365, OneDrive, and Xbox Game Pass. Windows 11 is just a way to still your personal data and give even more of your money over to M$.

Been using linux for a while. Installed Arch yesterday on a machine we're gonna surplus on a lark. Like 5 minutes to install it. No asking for personal data or nothing. Pretty much the same on every other Linux install.

Has Microsoft tried removing the TPM requirement?
I think you can do it in regedit. But they require it so normies won't get fucked over by ransomware or other stupid phishing attacks.
