Amy Shira Teitel is an author and used to have a fairly popular youtube channel called "The Vintage Space" which talked about space flight history. She abandoned the channel about a year ago. She also got into some trouble for plagarism in one of her books, though I think it was just her doing her citations incorrectly, not intentional theft.

I seriously fucking doubt it. This is what is called inurement. However, in addition to nool saying don't do this shit, I'll add don't do this shit, not because I give a fuck about finking out a worm like Pat, but because it wouldn't do any good. "I read some shit on the Internet" is not actionable intelligence.
However, as much as nool (and probably you and everyone else) hate the fucking IRS, every time someone uses a nonprofit to rip people off (like Kjel and Pajeet treating Trans LifeLine as their personal piggybank), the rest of us take a deep dicking because WE are paying for their free shit any time we pay taxes.
But the people who could actually give actionable intelligence aren't in all likelihood here. These would be people who know the deliberative process (if any) that actually went into the decision to give this fucking mongoloid six figures of other people's money to sue, in addition to other people, Quasi and this very site. And this was on the dime of every other taxpayer in the country.
That is the kind of shit tax-free cults do. It's absolute bullshit a nerd/pedo guild is getting away with it.
I hope if there's anyone with integrity left in the organization, whoever made this dumbfuck decision gets canned, much like Kjel and Pajeet did. They will probably never get their members' money back from this corpulent pederast, but at least this bullshit won't be repeated.
It does seem from recent statements about their war chest spending that they realize this specific decision was stupid as hell and was money pissed away for no benefit to anyone, after all, it was sanctionably frivolous litigation, but it would be nice to see some consequences.
If we're super lucky, it might be mentioned in their Form 990 that every nonprofit has to submit.
Incidentally, they only have been a 501(c)(3) since 2014. Before then it would probably have been legal to do this. But now they have a general duty to the public as a nonprofit, and the money they take in tax-free should not be inuring to the benefit of any individual, much as you would see with a (legitimate) church.

That's along the lines of what I was thinking might be the only way, someone sees what they spent and finds out what it was spend on and then asks what the fuck they were doing. But then this an organization for sci-fi writers that formed a Safety/Security Committee as if this was something they should be doing and none of their members apparently gave a shit before it could throw money away on Rick.

The SFWA leadership were out for revenge for the 'Goodreads Saga'.
The following happened in 2018-2019 well before this thread was made. After the OnA subreddit's attacks on Pat ramped up, some of piggy's twitter friends jumped in to help him. SFWA members Paul Weimer (who now has a thread here), MM Shill, and Adam Rakunas (Pat's con buddy, possible homosexual lover, and SFWA secretary). As they in-turn became targets other SFWA members started to pay attention, especially to the negative review bombing raids on Goodreads.
Mary Kowall, then head of the SFWA and @Boston Brand's good friend took offense to all the shit that was sent her way and apparently green-lit the lawsuit, along with Tobias Buckwall, SFWA financial officer, who had also been fucked with.
No members questioned it because there is no accountability in the SFWA. As far as I can tell, even today a significant portion of the membership still has no idea that the lawsuit happened.

I love Fatrick. Hes a cow that can do no substantial harm to anyone (besides being an absentee father, which was probably a mitzvah tbh).
I cannot believe someone like him exists at all. He is so uniquely unlikable as a person. Pathetic beyond reason. And all his antics are public and documented. Most of his problems are self inflicted. He has the confidence of an intelligent, handsome and successful man but he is a stupid, fat failure.
I sometimes think of his gym selfies as I'm falling asleep and drift off smiling. I honestly believe that if Werner Herzog was shown this thread he would be compelled to make his finest documentary. Long live Rick Tomfatson.
