Not really. The concept of a "nuclear winter" is dubious, it's based on data from WW2 firebombing campaigns and low resolution computer models made with flawed assumptions. Radiation also isn't that big of a deal, modern nukes are relatively clean and most of the bad isotopes are gone within the first few days anyway. If you're also a good distance from a source of radiation you're probably fine as well.
A big dense city of millions isn't going to have a good time thanks to the wide spread destruction to the buildings around you, but smaller cities and towns are probably going to be relatively okay. Living next to a major military base (especially one with nukes) then you probably will have to deal with a strike but I wager your better off than your city living neighbors thanks to that distance you'll have and the low chance of infrastructure collapsing around you.
The real killer is going to be the collapse of supply chains and services that keep communities alive but even then there's a question of what that really means. All people really need to survive is fresh water, some food and basic shelter, people with pre-existing medical conditions are fucked but that can't be helped. The US is a big county, finding food, water and shelter shouldn't be too hard for a community.
Well what about societal collapse? I think a lot of discussion about this topic comes from natural disasters like hurricane Katrina and I don't know how useful it is to draw conclusions based on that. Hurricanes are arguably far most destructive than nukes especially over a greater area, also the destruction form a hurricane lasts much longer.

I find it interesting that US is the only country that gets large portions of the complainers be labeled anti-Ukraine, when most european (and baltic) countries help out very little, and only at signficant compensation/threats from US, and then there's the middle east, Turkey, Israel, all of which actively work with Russia but aren't really labelled anti-Ukraine (though Ukraine does accuse Israel of being pro genocide)

never understood russias logic abt donbass thing. russia invades ukraine by taking crimea. then as if tht wasnt enough, they begin backing secessionist movements from within ukraine, and cry foul when ukraine wants to prevent these seditious new republics from joining a hostile neighbor that just invaded them. dont get me wrong, if civilians are getting killed in the donbass then thats fucked, but the donbass is a rebel state that wants to join forces with the invader. no nation would put up with that shit. so at what point does russia accept responsibility for the donbass conflict?
