It's surreal to me how the idea of having an orderly, trustworthy society is viewed as some kind of evil conservative thing.

Yep, 'Karen' is one of those terms that jumped the shark pretty quickly. While it's definitely appropriate at times (like the trope of the nosy neighbour who gets up your ass over something mundane and starts berating you by starting with "EXCUSE MEEEEE") it's usually now people acting like (mostly white) people are crazy for wanting the first world to continue being the first world.

It's like the narcissism and coddling behaviour of social progressiveness meets the narcissism and 'crabs in a bucket' mentality of ghetto black culture where the one kid who actually doesn't want to end up like the future criminals that he's surrounded by gets picked on for being 'white' (not chimping out because he was 'disrespected' while also knowing how to read and write at an age appropriate level.)

Karen very swiftly turned into "hey, an acceptable slur I can drop in to justify anything I say about a woman online" resulting in an overuse by sorts like the sterling examples posted by the person you replied to.

Try to go to Scandinavia or Northern Europe where women are “liberated”, won’t tolerate men wolf whistling at them, have turned the art of shooting a man down into an art and will sneer at you if you ask if they need help carrying a heavy suitcase.

Then the same women go to Spain or Turkey for holiday and come back with swooning tales of how “forward and charming” the men down there are. How refreshing it was to be approached in public, and how gentleman-like southern men all are, opening doors and carrying their shit.

“Karen” jumped the shark because it was appropriated by exactly the same people it targeted. Entitled, joyless, white middle class hags, who think they deserve special treatment merely for being who they are.

Kate from John and Kate plus 8 has often been pointed to as the Proto-Karen before the word became a thing.

Honestly, he makes some good points, such as SUVs being more dangerous and giving people a false sense of security.
More places should be more accessible via walking.

But otherwise, they just come off as whiny. Yeah, let's remove people's independence and make them rely on Public Transportation, which is also a pain in the ass. (IE cellphone videos of NY subways) I just got my Driver's license and I never realize that being about to go where I want, whenever I want is great.

These people would hate living in rural areas when cars are a must.

I ran across this guy once:

Didn't watch much, but what I saw he at least seemed a bit more level-headed, talking about like "this is just the case for cities - rural parts have different needs, etc"

I mean I'm all for cities figuring out what they need to do, as long as they realize their solutions do NOT apply outside their border.
