I keep going back and forth about whether she is smart or conniving enough for the Demure Muslim Mariam arc to be a planned plea tactic with this opposed bankruptcy discharge. It's so convenient that she's suddenly renounced her hedonist ways (as well as hidden or deleted all sorts of video evidence out of "modesty") right before she is basically going to have to throw herself on the mercy of the court and plead redemption.
As others noted, she has known for some time that this was coming - about three months ago, as one of our Legal Farmers noted.
Don’t forget, this trustee has also had months to work on this, and I doubt he waited until the last second. She is the one who tries not to face things, this guy is doing his job. She deleted those videos because for whatever reason, she didn’t want Salah and his family and friends to see them-I’m sure the trustee never crossed her mind.
There is an urge among some to think Chantal is a mastermind who can plan storylines and is able to defraud people months in advance. I think that belief is because she always seems to end up unscathed, but it’s all coincidence.
She’s not a mastermind, or clever in any way. She has a low cunning and complete lack of morality-she can take a woman’s death and use it for her advantage, but she simply cannot plan months in advance. Chantal is an animal: a bottom feeder. Like a lobster, she’ll eat the trash on the bottom of the sea that no other creature will eat and she has claws to pinch, but she can’t hunt. She’s no Apex predator, like a shark or dolphin. She’s not even a sardine who schools with others for protection. She doesn’t know where her next meal is coming from but she’ll eat anything so doesn’t have to plan or think. It just works out for her.
Until it doesn’t and she ends up somebody’s dinner. Many of us have been here for literal years waiting for that day. But it’s not today, I’m sure she’s on a half empty plane, uncomfortable but able to use the middle tray without complaint. We’ll see how she decides to handle her living situation when she gets back. The fact that she’s not sure about living with her family or not indicates she’s lying about the possibility, or they said no and she thinks she can change their mind, or she’s going to lie about where Peetz and she are. She’s probably told Peetz he can’t stream when she gets home and will hide him until their move out date, but like that old New Years Eve video, whatever she comes up with won’t be secret for long.
I hope I don’t have to look at Salads ugly frog face and wonky ticcing eyebrow for a while. Or ever again.
