I've been on Ravelry since just after it started (way back when invites etc), and watching how it's gone from informative to utter fucking shitshow of woke bullcrappery has been as depressing as it has been hilarious. I quickly stopped bothering with any of the messageboard stuff when it became illegal to not kiss editor's ass in exactly the right way/anything even remotely negative was met with howls of RAVELRY IS NOT CUSTOMER SERVICE and other shit. A simple question will have you labelled racist/sexist/ignoring the plight of disabled dyslexic African pygmies before you know it. And that was before all the one-uppery of "my yarn is more expensive and exclusive than yours". They even attempted a vague farms-esque group where people would talk about drama on other threads, but it's modded to hell and back and of course you're not supposed to actually say mean things. Then the banning of anything to do with Trump, and the saintly Casey (may allah bless his lucious toneails pbuh) trooning out... Utter fucking joke.

I like that you can buy patterns there from all over the world. I hate that there are shysters who blurt out some 'recipe' that makes a shapeless lump and then complain if you give their "pattern" a bad rating. What narks me most is the way so may posh young women wax lyrical about how wonderful they are for carrying on the skills of their ancestors, how very green and environmentally friendly it is, and how they should be paid fairly for the time they spend when knitting an item - all the while having no fucking clue that back in the day women knitted because if they didn't, then had no clothes, and they used whatever shit, cheap yarn was available for the same reason. There's a tonne of elitism in knitting, all the while claiming they're the most woke and communist anarchist greens of all.

Thankfully not many trannies make inroads into knitting as it takes a lot of practice to actually be able to make good stuff. I've been waiting for some sort of cross-cultural beef between the Russian contingent (which seems pretty big on Ravelry) and the woke westerners, but perhaps the language difference keeps the two sides apart. Which is good, because although it's hard to buy Russian lace patterns right now (sanctions etc), those things are gorgeous and I'd be annoyed if Russians got banned from Ravelry for being unwoke like Republicans and anyone who said the word 'Trump' were.

My other hobbies are mostly utterly overrun, sadly. Apart from gardening. Trannies only want to grow weed. Can't grow much stuff in a basement aside from that, I guess.

Mine has been not invaded but attacked by Wokisim / Environmentalism - Fishing, I tend to fish in out of the way places but when I can't travel far from home there are some nice places to fish but they are very public adjacent and sadly some people can't just leave others in peace, last year I was called a fish killer etc and they where very big an tough right upto the point I started firing maggots at them from my catapult.

They don't realise that this area but this one river in particular was little more than a open sewer and it was the local anglers who out of there own pocket restored the river and native species including some that are on the Endangered species list.

Happened to my allotment last year, where it is has a VERY long 2+ year waiting list to get an allotment and they even have 1/4 and 1/2 plots, they tried an experiment of giving refuges a priority placement - once they educated them that this wasn't free land they could do anything with, it took another few months for them to know they couldn't just dump stuff they didn't want in the compost bin's and poor cooking oil into the ground (killing one very old pear tree) or have livestock beyond chickens etc the experiment was quietly dropped and only one family who where Syrian Farmers has kept a plot and they are genuinely nice people who help out and are eager to learn what they can an can't grow etc.

H the Dad helped me and some of the other's dig a shared irrigation system using a pond and our water buts for Fruit tree's and plants based on a Roman system he and his family where using in Syria also helped me dig out some Japanese Knott weed and clear up some of the abused plots from the experiment.

I've introduced him to fishing an he loves it, he's got a job but it's not that well paid so I gave him some of my old gear like rod's reels etc and he's out fishing more than me.

How much of a Ravelry reject contingent do we have on the Farms?

I'm lucky in that my fiber art, weaving, has not been overtaken by Ravelry's insane woke cat ladies. My best guess is it's much more specialty since you can't just run down to Michael's or Joann's and pick up a weaving loom and looms tend to be on the expensive side, even a dinky starter rigid heddle table loom is around 200 bucks. Most weavers have offline local guilds you pay dues to so they do not have much of a web presence to infect with Current Year politics.

My guild is mostly grandmas and boomers with empty nests trying to keep busy. It's quite nice and worth the dues.

Gardening in general seems to be ok, but a few parts/groups within it have become kind of fucked.
potted plants/indoor gardens: Blew up during Covid and with the explosion in demand came the increase in prices, I've seen cutting for (in my opinion) boring house plants go for $200 a pop. This doesn't seem to have affected exotic/unusual fruiting plants to bad, but they have still increased in cost.

Urban/suburban gardening/homesteading: Have been steadily increasing in popularity, and of course with Covid I've seen another substantial increase in interest. Unfortunately this affects quite a few things, vegetable plants/seeds have seen a large increase in costs. Dwarf fruit trees have seen a LARGE increase in cost due to a few factors(demand/die off from weather).

Chickens have also increased in popularity which isn't to bad, but the people trying to profit from it are. A good chicken coop wasn't cheap before Covid fucked lumber, but now they'll cost you an arm and a leg. Since Covid I've been seeing more and more videos of people showing off their DIY chicken coop(tm), and how "you can make one too, just buy the instruction manual on my site" They want $15-20 and all the people trying to sell them have almost identical coop designs so they're all piggy backing off of each other. I bring this up because there seems to be a shift in gardening culture involving the sharing of information. That's absurd. My (extended) family gets most cuttings from friends/family/neighbors/clients/etc. for free. We aren't super niche cultivar people, but we're fairly humble folk who regularly gift a rooted cutting for anything. People need to make friends with others outside of the Internet.

I've seen sewing forums get invaded by troons which is pathetic, but cross-stitch and embroidery seem to be mostly true-and-honest women. I do get annoyed by the "subversive" cross-stitch trend because it's crass and simple and generally ignorant. I think it's much funnier to hang, say, a "Guests and fish stink after three days. -- Ben Franklin" quote embroidered inside a well-rendered fish than "F U, Get Out!" piece with random 8-bit Star Wars characters. Intellectual laziness, really.

I haven't noticed my other hobbies being invaded by the SJW or troon crowd, but that's probably because they're stereotypically masculine. Skiing and diving require full-body gear and a degree of physical fitness and risk tolerance (and money) that the usual suspects won't pony up. I, as a female, am probably ruining scuba for some dudes; all I can hope is that I make myself unobtrusive. I suspect skiing is on the short list of niche female sports that troons will ruin next.
