re:Abbychat, they're never getting there. Somehow it also clicked for me this episode that the weird changes (though I kinda liked the underground fungus network idea, until they showed it) are all so this can be a Walking Dead thing that runs forever. I'm sure they'll do the giraffe episode and shit, but between the games there's indefinite seasons to milk.
But I can't rationalise the spore thing from a production standpoint. There wasn't even a normal amount of dust in the air when they started shining lights around in the dark, it really stands out as a bizarre thing to toss.

A producer at HBO really loves fetal alcohol shovelface, because if you watch that House of Dragons show the lead female character also has a bizarre puffy face that looks like it has been stretched out in post.

honestly it wouldve just been cheaper to have the fedra soldiers show up and gun her down than whatever this was but then again im not a director, writer, or producer on the show so what do i know

I read this and had to see it for myself. Shit that's really how it went down in the show. It seems like you don't need toxic masculinity to disempower women when a male feminist can do it far better and out in the open.

All of this is making me wonder what would happen if HBO got to the rights to make an Earthbound adaptation.
  • Ness is now Asian.
  • Paula is now Mexican.
  • Jeff is now a Paki and also gay because Tony.
  • Poo stays the same except his name would be changed because it's "waysist" or something.
  • Porky stays white because he's the main human villain and of course he'd be white.
Video game adaptations never end well. This show is just proof of it, especially with HBO loving their diversity checklists. HBO used to be where to go if you wanted to tell a story the way you want without network censorship. That's clearly not the case anymore.

Not all of them are bad, but so many have been bad that they're all permanently stuck as a bad genre.

IMO there's a couple out there that were decent enough that I can rewatch and enjoy.

Mortal Kombat 95'
Silent Hill
Advent Children (CGI but I think it qualifies)

The recent Resident Evil outings weren't even made to make money. Just to turn White characters into shitskins.

I love the obvious, cheaper-than-fuck cgi used for the mutation. Couldn't they pay off a couple of make-up artists to whip up something half-decent? They have HBO backing it, this bullshit couldn't have sucked up all the money.
 
I'm playing through 2 properly for the first time myself and I love how obvious it is that Abby and the tranny kid are meant to just be a more diverse do-over of Joel and Ellie, because on some level Cuckman has never gotten over making a game where the lead is a straight white male.

Tess' death in the show highlights how this show is actually quite a bit cheesier and lamer than the game. It felt like a scene out of Z nation with the "kiss". I always felt the infected in TLOU were more like the zombies in 28 days later. Like wild feral animals that rip you apart when they get the chance. I dont understand do some of the zombies eat you and some kiss you?

In the game her death by getting shot by the Quarantine people is short, simple, brutal and bleak. Which is more in line with the theme of the first game.

I also do not get this idea that there are no spores in this world as in the first episode we clearly see the old woman next to an open window. This implied for me that the infection was airborne to some extant as how would the old woman have become infected?

I am assuming the Spore thing has no bearing on the plot of the show at all and was just some head cannon thing the writers agreed upon because they didn't want any questions in the audience mind about spores. Which is dumb because it is not a huge deal in the games. Characters simply put on masks when they need to by visually seeing spores in the game. I always assumed it was a high dose of spores that would get you infected so if you weren't in some old building and couldn't visually see spores you would be fine 99% of the time without a mask.
