Back in the days before camera phones did instant postprocessing, whenever you would take a picture without a flash in a room lit by incandescent lighting, the picture always had a strong yellow tint. You didn't take a bad picture, it's just that your eyes lied to you.

We have SOME rapports about some natives (kinda like Hijra in India) who were shitty men, and mostly hung out with women/did female work.

However, it’s important to remember that there were hundreds of tribes of very different cultures.

We have no idea how common that was, or whether early explorers only saw ONE tribe that had made an artificial role for gender non conforming men. For all we know, the usual practice for gender non conforming men, was getting thrown off a cliff.

TLDR: From what we know, the vast majority of natives had the usual societal division into male and female. Anyone telling you that “two spirit” were common or normal among natives is lying to you. We just don’t know since so much of their history and culture is extinct.

Third gender existed in patriarchal societies with strong gender roles that needed a place to put effeminate men like the Dene.

Societies with loose gender roles like the Apache with a broader definition of gender had only two genders.

If she genuinely believed that "trans women" literally are women, then what reason is there to send them to male prisons? There's only 2 possibilities: -

1. Trans women are not women after all and Sturgeon is wrong.

To me it's blatantly obvious that 1 is true, but even if Sturgeon were to pick 2, she would still have to explain how you tell the difference between a "real trans woman" and someone lying about being one.

I often forget how much harder this is for everyone else... The main issue is the limited space to work with down there. Preserving the penis is a relatively simple procedure, but the testes are another matter since they're right where the upper part of the neovulva go. You basically would need a perineal raphe that was about 5 inches long to preserve them, and most males-at-birth have around 2 to 2.5 inches. Way too little, in short!

(I seem to be one of the only cases in history of a double genital tubercle that developed male on top and female on bottom that survived. It... causes interesting issues, to say the least. Pants aren't designed for that, let alone for the two tailbones it gave me, and toilets really aren't meant for this configuration!)

I'll give you a rundown of what having a double genital tubercle is like, then. My upper equipment (the male parts) are about an inch and a half too high up, while my lower equipment (the female parts) are about an inch and a half too far down. My anus is also positioned too far back. Most pants assume that you don't have this going on, and are generally woven fairly tight-fitting for the gender of choice they were made for. Since the upper equipment is up too high, jeans crush my penis and ovotestes even if they're made for men. As a result, I have to wear pants that are a size or two too big.​

As for the toilet issue, well... Picture tying to cram equipment that's too high up AND equipment that's too far back into your typical toilet seat and you'll see pretty quick what the problem is! I can either (uncomfortably) jam the upper parts into the bowl with my butt in the air, or (uncomfortably) sit with my upper equipment outside the rim while my butt is firmly planted over the entire hole so as to not hit the back of the seat with feces. Pretty much I exclusively use long-rim toilet seats when I can and even then I have to sit weird on them!​

There's ample evidence that I'm a genetic chimera (both of my arms have long stretches of obviously differentiated skin on them, as do my shins), which would explain how I developed the way I did. Basically I had the DNA for a female and a male in me (likely I consumed the male DNA from a deceased twin in the womb when they were still at the blastocyst stage; that's how most genetic chimeras are formed), and for whatever reason two genital tubercles were formed by each set of DNA separately instead of just one formed by both sets. The tailbone is actually a part of the genital tubercle, which is why I have two.​

That’s how Ive been feeling for so long… I finally have health insurance after so many years and this will be one of the first things I will get tested.

I’ve asked my mom so many times if there was anything off about my birth, but she has always played coy, and hasn’t helped at all.

I don’t have any huge signs, just subtle things here and there. I’m pretty sure I’ve been struggling with low testosterone the last few years, with unexplained weight gain, lethargy, etc.

Anyway not looking forward to visiting with doctors but hopefully I’ll get answers soon.

Ooh yeah. I had figured out that something was off by age 7. I could literally feel anatomy that I couldn't find because it was hidden beneath a skin graft. My mom finally came clean when I was 9, and then shortly after my father deliberately traumatized me to an extreme to force me to be quiet about it. By 13 I forced myself to forget, though I remained terrified of the prospect of any kind of surgery for fear of them removing my concealed anatomy entirely.

It wasn't until I was 40 that I finally broke the mental block, and I've had to piece the details together from what evidence I have since I can't ask mom any longer about it (may she rest in peace).
