Because as much as they claim to hate the idea of being YouTube celebrities, at some point you begin to exhibit the traits of one. And one of those traits seems to be seeing your online "friends" more like business partners. You scratch their back, and they scratch yours. But once they fuck up something, you have to take your brand into consideration. Do you risk loosing your audience cause you associate with someone "problematic", or do you do the safe option and simply cut them out of your life and possibly speak out against them.
