Every time they "affirm their gender identity", the dopamine hit comes with a big ol' cognitive dissonance slap to the face. They know they're men, they know the hormones are only going to give them moobs or completely unnatural cone tits, they know the cashier at the supermarket thinks they're a freak. And yet, they cannot admit it. Long-term, constant cognitive dissonance is a sure-fire way to develop a whole plethora of mental illnesses. It's why gaslighting is such a terrible thing, since the principle is the same: you're trying to convince someone of something their senses and their cognition make it clear is not true. Anxiety, depression, low self-esteem and suicidal ideation are sure to follow. Short term, though? Particularly on men, cognitive dissonance causes anger.
And that's why they're so fucking angry all the time. And why they're such fun to watch.
