Two 8-month-old pit bulls that were loose in Nanaimo attacked several children, severely injuring at least one. Other people that came to aid the children were also injured.

The children were playing in a yard at the house of one of their friends. The dogs were from somewhere else in the neighborhood and had been cited for being at large previously.

One of the owners of the dogs came and got the dogs but did not stick around. The news interviewed the other owner, a Dangerhair that looked to be in her late 40s or early 50s. While she was devastated at what her dogs had done, she said to the reporter, "People are saying, look at this from the prospective of a parent, well, these dogs are my kids, too," and then she broke down crying.

It was later reported both dogs were euthanized, as there have been other incidents prior to this one, and due to the severity of the injuries the one particular child sustained.

To the dangerhair dog owner I would have to say, "If these dogs were your KIDS, you did a lousy job of raising them. Thank heavens you didn't spawn any of your own."

One-Eared Pit Bull Removes Ear from His 'Favorite' Toy and Makes 'Best Friend Just Like Him'​

Bruno, a North Carolina dog with one ear, removed the left ear off of his favorite stuffed animal — the same ear he has missing — while staying at North Carolina's SPCA of Wake County​

Dogs may be man's best friend, but one North Carolina dog made his own buddy out of a stuffed animal that now looks just like him.

Bruno, a one-eared pit bull from Raleigh, N.C., tugged off the left ear of his "favorite" stuffed toy — a plush dog with floppy brown ears. By chance, or perhaps, by choice, Burno removed the same ear from the toy that he has missing, FOX10 Phoenix reported. The SPCA of Wake County posted photos of Bruno with his new "best friend" to their Facebook, sharing more of the rescue dog's story.

"Bruno used to live chained up outside, and his ear was torn off when another dog attacked him, and he couldn't run away," the shelter wrote in the post. "But Bruno knows there's nothing wrong with him, and now he has a best friend just like him to prove it."

The SPCA told FOX10 that Bruno "came from a difficult situation" where he was tied up outside the entire year, through "freezing winters" and "hot N.C. summers," and couldn't escape from whatever bothered or hurt him.

The shelter added that Bruno is kind and sweet, despite his troubling history.

"You would never know he had such a tough start to life — despite his pouty eyes, he's a very happy and loving guy, and his tail absolutely never stops wagging!" SPCA workers told FOX10. "He's well-behaved, cuddly, and very smart."


They continued, "Despite being attacked, he still likes other dogs, and he loves every person he meets. He's got a big heart and a forgiving soul."

Bruno editing his stuffed animal to look like him is one example of the canine's cute personality.


The SPCA of Wake County discovered Bruno with his matching toy when a staff member went to check on the dog one day at the shelter and noticed something different about Bruno's plush. Observing that the same ear the dog has missing was torn off the toy, the worker snapped some photos to post to social media — which ultimately changed Bruno's life.


The Facebook post of Burno and his plush pal has been shared nearly 50,000 times so far, which helped the pit bull find his adopter. Many people commented on the post expressing interest in adopting the sweet pup, so much so that Bruno "maxed out" on his pending adoption applications and ultimately found his forever family a few days after the shelter's Feb. 3 post, according to FOX10.

Unfortunately, Bruno was recently diagnosed with heartworm. He will stay at the SPCA for treatment — covered by donations from his doting fans — until he is healthier. After his recovery, Bruno will officially move into his forever home.


"He'll be in a foster period for the next couple of months while we provide that lifesaving heartworm treatment, but once his treatment is complete, his adoption will be official," the shelter said.

The first time I saw that last video was when I decided I was for banning the whole pitbull breed. With a normal dog in that situation if it gets excited you might see some jumping, maybe it'll nip at you, but it'll stop when you scold it. The pitbull latched onto her with no warning even, and if I remember correctly it did tear either her ear or a chunk from her face.

As sad as it is to watch that nigger kill those dogs, I don't blame him, they'd do worse to him. The most humane thing to do is to outlaw any further breeding of pitbulls and let what's left die off.

In the first video a clip of a black and white pitbull puppy is from a pitbull rescue trying raise awareness that no, it really is genetics. The guy was showing that this 5 week old puppy is attacking relentlessly because that's his natural personality. He was letting the puppy attack for long while to proof they aren't just catching an unusual moment, this clearly extra fun for him and goes all in. They hadn't shown him to do it, he's too youngfor that, he just does it instinctively. He's too small to do any real harm now but he won't be forever.

He said this why they don't adopt out all pitbulls that come in. Some are just dangerous because their physical build and personality despite training they could do. This included the puppy in the video. If they can get him under control then sure he can be adopted out but if he continues to show this level of aggression he will be humanly put down for safety.

I appreciate the no-kill shelters that are willing to put the work in for the dogs that can't be adopted out. Some of the Michael Vick dogs were allowed to live out their lives at an animal sanctuary but would never be green lighted for adoption or even handling from volunteers. The staff who worked with the problem dogs had extensive training.

But even they knew those dogs were beyond helping, so at least they stuck to their creed and didn't just stick them in a home hoping for the best.

Human beings are unlike pit bulls in that we weren't bred specifically for violence like pits were. Human beings do not have proclivities for violence hardwired into our minds. Pits do, though.

Honestly, child-mauling pibbles get more media sympathy than children in rough situations. Pibbles have hoardes of white-savior types lining up to take them after they eat a baby's face off. Abused kids get moved from home to home, because that baggage is hard to deal with. Pit mommies are the types of people who don't like human children, but love the clout that comes with trying to reform a dog that shouldn't exist.
