I can't find a video of this and "coded" indicates that the NPC probably isn't trans. Source?

I can't either. I can find articles from a year, or so ago saying there was one allegedly planned to be in the game, and when I google "hogwarts legacy trans npc" this shows up, but when I click on it, there's no actual discussion currently with that name.

They still do them for high sales volume games, and 3 of the 5 locations in my area are doing it for Hogwarts Legacy. I definitely get the vibe there will be shenanigans, the temperature and vitriol is to the point where all of these clowns think that whoever buys this game is a enemy combatant

Two big differences between billboards and crowds milling outside a store for a new vidya game.

1. That billboard didn't have security officers watching over it to ensure against shenanigans. That crowd almost certainly will, and there's a good chance they will be off-duty police officers who can call for backup if things get hairy.

2. Billboards don't punch back. Parents standing in line with their children just might.

At worst they might phone in a bomb threat or try to get the store SWATted, but given the emotional and mental capabilities of the average JKR-hater, I'd bet they wind up getting themselves busted if they try.
