I was wondering if something was off about him, was pretty annoying when he nuked the entire original series off his channel because that came to it's end. His dad died during the first run, right? I'd hazard that's the key to the downward spiral. Sucks.

I'm surpised nobody's made this point, but based on the main page gif I think he is aping The Centrifuge Brain Project, a short film about an eerily similar concept. Just no disaster or anything obtusely arg related in that. In my opinion it does what he's attempting to do far better, and it is subtle in comparison.

As someone who is a pussy when it comes to theme park rides all I can say is FUCK THAT!

They're 100% ai generated. It sucks he's overusing the tech so much. It's good at getting some interesting concepts for your work but just outright using a batch of low res outputs is fucking lazy. I don't expect this project to end very well if he's skimping out so readily.

It’s obnoxious. I love looking at “back rooms” and “liminal space” images with no info attached. The idea lost its charm when people started to give these images lore.

Not only does it lose charm but it loses horror too. Part of the discomfort, dred, and fun of those imagines is trying to figure out the context. But what makes the backrooms especially dumb because all of this started with a post on /x/ back on 2019 that a nice short story for a cursed image and now they just ran that shit into the ground.

Parts of the site are cool and flesh out things that Kane just brushed over in his story or that just cannot be easily done with video. Then you have deformed abomination people.

I liked the beginnings of when it started to grow. The additional monsters and levels were done organically and added to the lore. Then it got absolutely bat shit insane. That stupid backrooms game that came out did not help matters. As usual, autism over took it.

Honestly, the obsession people (mostly young spergs, I noticed) with contextualising everything and everything needing some complicated lore behind it has gotten boring. I wish we could have horror that exists just for the sake of being horror, instead of everything needing to be this sort of puzzle. it's gotten fucking stale, to me.

• Does the fact the idea of the backrooms come from a 4chan post make the idea public domain, creative commons, or free to take for themselves?
• Could the anon who made the backrooms concept sue for royalties as its his idea?
• Much of the iconic imagery of the backrooms is based on existing photos. Would Kane and the studios need to ask the photographer of the image for the original post for permission for the film?

It's really exhausting browsing through them and they provide zero context as to the content of the video. They are just as bad as zoomed in faces of people with over-exaggerated expressions to me.

I really wish Badhouse made more content, she was the GOAT. her videos were so explicit and real that I honestly couldnt actually believe her shit was allowed on youtube. those brief moans from the 1/2-second long clips of dudes fucking dead animals (yes she actually reviwed a mixtape of people fucking dead animals) was probably the most disgusting thing i've seen/heard in all of youtube. A lot of her other content dove into quesitonable cases too like people who actually eat dead infants, which she covered in another video. Hope she comes back someday

He made a handful of videos, but he too (much like Badhouse) hasn't been seen for a while. Good stuff nevertheless tho. Of course James Wan and the likes are turning it into a movie, because everything needs to be ruined at this point. It's going to have obvious jump-scares, an entirely idiotic backstory of how it came into existence. Obviously it will be a group of people trapped in there, because we need inclusion and diversity in every movie under the sun. There will be an obnoxious character who has "heard of the legend", proceeding to dump exposition left and right. The score will be done by Joseph Bishara, so expect regurgitated Conjuring cues. Teens are gonna love it. We're gonna hate it.

The first inception of The Backrooms was amazing. The feeling of complete isolation was amazing, complete disorientation, the dread of not being able to ever get out. Just nothingness in the form of repetition. Endless repetition. The fact some mechanized being was stalking the halls was a detriment to the idea. The idea of being trapped, completely alone in such a space just works so much better.

Then people had to just keep piling on and piling on and it completely ruined the concept.
