Hogwarts Legacy - Harry Potter open world RPG (no trannies allowed)

Is it actually a tranny, or is everyone just in rush to claim/be offended by it.

It's actually a tranny, but doesn't seem to be attached to any weird political messaging for simply existing. She's just ... there. These are the kinds of characters I tend not to mind so much. The only time I DO mind is when there's some kind of bullshit political messaging attached to it.

So first people were demanding no one buy it because of Rowling’s views, and that failed horribly. Then it switched to “lol this gameplay is basic and boring, you’re stupid for getting excited!” and that failed because “game looks and is set in place I really really like, so I don’t mind okay gameplay”. So now it’s become “lol there’s a trans character, you dumb bigots are supporting lgbt now,, take that!” and the response is “dude I just want to grillgame, fuck off.”

Sticking a bunch of tokens in the school doesn't even strike me as out of character for the setting; wizards are so racist that they would absolutely prioritize random kids with even a spark of magic from a shit-covered village over their own neighbors. The books made it clear that wizards could not give less of a fuck about non-wizards, I doubt the average Hogwarts student could tell you the first thing about Scotland despite living in it. Rowling always cast it in a "hee hee how quirky!" way, but if you actually sit down and think about it for a bit, the wizards' willful ignorance of everyone else demonstrates an utter contempt. The ones calling everyone else mudbloods were just saying the quiet part out loud.

A troon wizard on the other hand makes no sense, given that they could just polymorph into whatever form they feel like. A failure to pass would represent that the person didn't want to pass, ie clearly a fetish for being a weird tranny who people know is a weird tranny. If dude wanted to be a woman, he could've been a perfectly convincing one.

Ninja'd. But I'll provide the vid archive.

The complete lack of knowledge on Muggles and how they get by did come more to the forefront in later books. A lot of the stuff Harry and friends managed to pull of was because they actually knew about how the sort of thing worked.

This whole shit with the troon wizard underlines something a tranny friend of mine said. The way to tell the difference between a transexual and a troon is to look at their created characters. A transexual, that is, a person suffering from gender dysphoria, will play as the gender they want to be. A troon, which as we all know, is a faggot trying to be special for attention, will play as what they are, and shriek how their character is a troon.

Transexuals fucking HATE being transexual, and to those people, my legitimate pity. To everyone else? Fuck you, you're never going to be a woman, just a fuck ugly former boy.

If you can stomach the typical repetition and jank that comes with open world games, it seems to be decent. Like @SteelPlatedHeart said, tack on another point or so if you're a genuine fan of the world since it seems to be pretty well done in that regard.

This entire game seems to be crafted by people who genuinely love the Harry Potter universe and overall lore of that world, despite the troons attempts at cancelling it due to JK's belief in biological reality. For that, I can respect it a bit.

I for one am pretty glad that the current_year tax of shoehorning a token troon character into every fucking game has been scaled back in the last few things I've played to troon characters that know how to shut the fuck up. It's still jarring and artificial because you know why they exist in the first place, but it's infinitely better than the wave we had of NPCs whose only dialogue was about their dumb struggles with trying to be a crossdressing faggot in a survivalist caveman village or whatever.

It's not perfect, like... the ladyboy bartender in Catherine was a good element, so they aren't categorically a problem, but a legitimate story-relevant one like that wouldn't land right if it was undermined by being released now in a market full of this kind of tokenism. But it's a sign of everyone getting sick of this shit and hopefully an eventual phasing-out so yeah I'm not complaining.
Plus the retard confusion is pretty funny in this case too so the best reaction is not giving a shit anyway.

Correct. The best path of least resistance is indifference. Especially when it comes to "acceptance" issues. People want to act like they're special, when the truth is, no one's more special than the other.

I'm honestly surprised that troons didn't try and campaign Twitch and YT to ban the game from being allowed to stream. I wish they had so I could see those two companies tell the LooneyTroons to fuck off.
I’m sure some did, but obviously Twitch was not gonna listen to a handful of people on Twitter over the companies with the giant bags of money for them.

I've watched a twitch stream for a while and it looks pretty decent. Enemies were being bullet sponges to some extent, but I gathered the streamer was in a higher level area than he probably should've been in as he was often complaining about the levels of his opponents. Thus far my impression is a positive one.

Considering how insane they are, they've mostly been doing it for a while. But I'll buy the game down the line later in the year since it looks pretty good.

ok. what are spoons?
An old progressive neologism from the disability grifting sector:

Spoon theory has been a popular metaphor for more than a decade among numerous disability communities. The theory uses spoons as a visual way to explain how much energy someone has throughout the day; we all start the day with the same number of spoons. Each action causes us to hand some spoons over in payment.

For most people, they can rest and recover, with a seemingly unlimited supply of spoons. However, there are others who only have a set number to last them the whole day, and once your spoons are gone, they’re gone.

Could even make it a plot element. There's more foreign students in the school because current Hogwarts won't take (or rarely takes) Mud Bloods. Which would line up nicely with Victorian sensibilities and their general attitude towards "the poors" and give you more fuel for random roaving groups of rogue wizards.

Of course then the game also becomes a message of the elites using their wealth and power to crush those who rather justifiably hate them. But I personally enjoy a bit of nuance and am occasionally willing to play a game where I am debatably the bad guy.
