Just a heads up, I have thought the US should Balkanize for a very long time, long before Trump was in office. USA born.

It's not something only parroted by Russians, it's a concept that has been around longer than the USSR.

US balkanization is nearly impossible due to the elites that rule the empire, the severe polarization between racial and political groups, and how the military resources are spread (think nukes, submarines, military secrets etc.).
The USSR or Russia are completely different. The ethnic resentment is way lower between the various ethnic groups inside Russia, and Moscow and the Russian ethnic group has centralized control over the military. As long as there remains a Russian core around Moscow, all will be OK and rest can be rebuilt.
For the US balkanization would mean that a lot of states would find themselves with military bases and top secret gear, and the personnel would be diverse, even ideologically nowadays. The elites will never allow it to happen. Imagine the distrust between Florida and California lmao. Imagine the movement of populations, blacks would probably mass migrate to places like Baltimore and Detroit, whites and their militias would create large separatist areas, latinxes would want parts of the southern states to go to Mexico, shitlibs in the north would want to become part of Canada.
