In other news, our crazy Johnny Depp-addicted voice actor friend Greg Ellis somehow manages to still get work in Hollywood and appears in this game.

Little over an hour in...pretty impressed. Graphically it feels nice even on medium settings because things are little jumpy for everyone rn.

Combat? on Hard it feels like it will definitely pick up and have difficulty. I've only done basics but the basic attack/block system feels dark souls esque without extreme health bar punishment which is really all that makes Dark Souls 'unforgiving' to me at this point. But it's more than mild on Hard and if they wanted to...or maybe later in the game it gets this way...they could just "up" damage to the point where blocking and rolling become more integral but as it feels now it's comfy to someone who likes combat focused games.

Story...honestly interesting AF so far. The '5th year' start isn't fleshed out in the beginning and sort of just is but 'being a special person' exist pretty obviously in the tutorial. The overall plot set up has me excited and avoiding spoilers which is pretty easy as I don't consume social media and mostly will be avoiding this thread after this post. Voice acting is superb along with the musical score for the game. Takes obvious hints from the movie soundtrack but definitely takes a more modern/gamer on the 'loop' style games need to have a good musical background.

I'm expecting to get at least 30-40 hours of solid story/gameplay from this without diving into extras but from random clips and wanting to just fly around the game will take at least that even if I don't hardcore grind the story. I've just always wanted an 'open world' esque harry potter game and it seems like that it will scratch this itch.

Let me know if you find good settings to run it on the Steam Deck. I'm thinking about getting it on Steam as well.

I just started playing on Xbox Series X. Made a female named Melody Terf. Just got done with sorting ceremony. Not far in.

So is there a link to Null's playthrough?

Tuned in for a bit of the josh stream and thought it looked alright. Of course there’s ethnic diversity in modern day britain I don’t give a shit that half the characters in the school are nonwhite.

But, I just found out the game is supposed to be set in the 1800’s? If I remember right in the original books theres one (1) token black and asian each. Is there deep lore about the thorough ethnic cleansing in the school, undoubtably perpetrated by slytherin in the 20th century?

So... When will we get the first transgender victim of suicide die to this game? I mean, this game released today and it was portrayed as this weapon of mass trans destruction!

It's almost like troons exaggerated for sympathy points and the game is awesome. I really really hope a troon necks himself because of the success of this game.

Also torrenting it now.

It's been mentioned earlier, but the amount of minorities running around makes perfect sense when you realize wizards don't give a fuck about skin color, or ethnicity, and that it's the height of the British empire with colonies ruled by it all over the world.

You automatically gained British citizenship by being born in one. That along with being magical is all you need to qualify to go to Hogwarts.

Josh was right about the preloading, this is taking at least three times as long as just downloading now would have.
 
game looks decent. im personally not gonna buy it because i dont care about harry potter stuff but i do find it pretty hilarious how much outrage this game has caused. especially since much like the harry potter books themselves you need to actually try to find stuff to get mad about. to any other sane person they are just books about wizards and magic. its not like harry just goes around killing troons or some shit.

but yeah from watching joshes stream i feel like this game would not have gotten nearly as much interest had it not been for the troons so congrats to them on helping the person they hate get more money while making themselves look like psychopaths i guess?
 
It’s hilarious how even Normie Youtubers/Streamers are saying that the people “offended” by people playing Hogwarts Legacy are clowns.

I would legitimately not be surprised if we saw a bunch of spite buys after all this.

It doesn't make any sense at all. If I'm calling someone a mudblood for having non-magical parents, I'm definitely gonna be dropping some very hard R's. If magic is heritable like intelligence, the idea of racial diversity at a 19th century elite British academy is even more ridiculous. If they were just as capable, why were they colonized? Why are they going to a British school? Do they not have their own schools?
